This kind of thread makes me yearn for the old ZDTV/TechTV days . . . when I first sub'd to Directv back in the late '90s, I watched "The Screen Savers" and related shows on ZDTV just about every night - their coverage of computers and consumer electronics was amazing.

    Yes mine does:)

The question is, how many tuners does the HR24 have?

I am sad to report I didn't make it to the DiSH booth. The place was huge and I was in awe with the enormity of it all. By the end of the day I was totally bushed. You need more than an afternoon to do CES, it has way too much to offer than what one can consume. Maybe next year, sorry Jason! :(

Do you think eventually that white box will be built into the unit, so we don't have to have so many boxes and cables?

Since this HR24 is "built on top of DLNA" according to Engadget, can we speculate it will be very different than whatever the new DirecTiVo people are talking about? I say so because TiVo is not a member of DLNA.

Its only a guess but sure. If the BCC was eventually put into the HR23-700's I dont see why over time they wont do it also.

The BBCs weren't put into the HR23; the HR23 uses wideband tuners that don't need the BBC at all. However, with all new installs going to SWiM technology, that doesn't seem to me to be an important distinction any longer (since BBCs aren't needed on SWiMs anyway).

Just sent more photos from today to our Mods, so I anticipate you'll see some additional things from CES.

Smiddy and I will provide a joint "What we saw at CES"-type report as soon as we can coordinate our information.

We enjoy the opportunity to share our information and experiences - and it was great to "work with" Smiddy at CES.

This isn't an HR24.....I am sure we will get confirmation of this at some point..
