While this story from Business Insider is prompted by the Sprint offer, it uses some interesting anecdotal information about Charlie to paint a picture. Here's a little bit of the information:

While the Sprint offer is seen largely as a call on Softbank's poker hand, I'm betting he'd snap Sprint up if the opportunity arose.

It seems that Sprint could use somebody to shake things up and jar them into the 21st century where personal phone service is at least as profitable as business phones service.

A former professional blackjack player? Is that what they're calling card counters banned from casinos nowadays?

Somehow I have more sympathy for a "card counter" than casinos.

My point was that I am not forced to buy Charlie's wares. Unlike my utilities, gas for my car, food from the supermarket, etc, TV is expendable.

When Charlie hiked some of his prices more than I wanted to pay, I pulled back. When he offered new hardware that I was willing to pay for, I paid more.

He puts out a less expensive product than his competition. The service is there, the quality is there.

Comparing that to being robbed for real (as I have) or raped (as a couple of my friends have) is simple ignorance. I'd really like to see the story of someone who has been "ruined" by Charlie (with the possible exception of a disgruntled employee).
