When I first got here some time ago (I found DBSTalk via Google), It was obvious that the knowledge brought forth here by so many is second to none.

Most of the time its like trying to get a drink off a fire hydrant. :eek2:

I stuck around over the months to learn as much as I can. This became yet another hobby of mine.

There are some here that go out of their way to help others in a way I have never experienced on the interwebs. They do not get a paycheck for the hours they spend each day answering [the same old] questions, day in and day out.

They do this because they like to. DBSTalk became a hobby for them as well, and I understand why.

This is beyond the CE: Allstars and CE: Echelon status. There are many here to took me in and showed me more than a few ropes.

We all know there are many here who help others out tremendously, too many names to even consider listing.

I would like to give a big "thank you" to my favorite grump: Veryoldschool.

Yes, your name fits. You did not kick me off your lawn. You sir, spend a great deal of your life here helping others... like myself.

    Thank you VOS.

Remember when you were trying to drive over it as you were backing up your truck?
[BTW my driveway really sucks to back up/out of]

Narrow, steeply uphill and a sharp 90ยบ at the top.
Couldn't get much worse to backup out of.

VOS took it upon himself to be a sort of mentor with me, and has over the years always made it clear I will forever have FNG status. ;)

I have made many a friend here.

Got someone on here who has helped you? Let him or her know, and there is no better time than now. A random act of kindness goes a very long way these days.

Amen... Without these folks, we'd have moved away from D* years ago due to D*'s crazy install model (poorly trained installers).

    Hey you, yes YOU.

Who took time out of their busy lives to help you?

Christ Blunt: thanks for keeping the lights on for all these years. You made it possible for me to make new friends.

Hmmm. This seems like a D* subscriber lovefest. Nonetheless, over on the E* side James Long deserves much thanks, as do others.

And since joining in January 2007, this site has saved me a bundle in Dish Network monthly fees.

I started this under the "OT" as this is DBSTalk specific, not provider specific. ;)

While we are here Phelrin: thank you for all your posts as well. Being as we are both in the same state, your posts are always a welcome read.
