Thinking of cancelling

Planning on cutting the cord and switching to tivo roamio, but had a few questions:

Are they going to want the hopper back?
If they don't want it back, can I continue to watch recorded programs without a subscription?

My wife has several shows she'd like to finish watching before I pull the plug. Would be good to know if I can pull the plug anyway and she can just watch them at her leisure.

Let me know - and thanks!

Is the Hopper purchased or leased? Are the shows on the internal hard drive or an external one? If you purchased the Hopper, and the shows are on the internal hard drive, you should be able to watch them with no problems when the Hopper is deactivated.

Most Hopper 3's are leased, most consumers don't know they have leased equipment.
Even with leased receivers, you can disconnect the receiver from the satellite signal before calling Dish to deactivate it, and continue to watch existing recordings. The only difference is that there is a limited amount of time before Dish will want the receiver back and charge a fee for not returning it.
