So, we go back with Dish to the Echostar days. Today we have 2 hopper1 with 2 joey1.
One hopper has a sling and EHD and the other has a sling and OTA usb, and I have a EHD but not hooked up yet. I do have the feeling that the Hard drive on one hopper is starting to fail.

With new software updates killing the normal operation of these units I was looking to upgrade. To a hopper3 and 2 joeys with Bluetooth.

I did a little chat with dish and they wanted to offer me a hopper2 for free. Not really an upgrade.

A few questions for those in the know.
    1. Can I add the shows from 2 different hopper1 EHD to a new hopper3?
    2. Have they worked out most of the bugs in the H3?
    3. Do you think they would do the H3 upgrade for free?
    4. On a hopper 3 how many remote slings will it handle? Today I can do two.

    Any other suggestions.

While I don't post here often I am here weekly reading.
    Thanks for your help all.

    Los Gatos,...
The H3 has been out for several years and is relatively bug free. DISH will probably want $100 for the H3 upgrade. IMO it's worth it. The speed of the interface alone is worth the upgrade. 16 tuners, tons of recording space, etc. If you you want to transfer recordings, you'll need to transfer them from your current Hoppers to an external drive. They will work on the H3.
I'm not sure how many connections the H3 can deal with.
