is Dish going to mirror ALL Voom on 61.5? Or just keep in on 129? If not, Charlie will have a lot of pissed off people who spent $100 bucks in June to put up a 61.5 bird...

Nothing has been announced so this is all rumor and speculation based:

When the additional Voom channels are added the new channels will be only in MPEG4.
They will likely be located on 110 - possibly 129 (my money is on 110).

Yes, many paid $100 for a dish to get 61.5 - some paid more to put together a DIY setup of dishes and switches ($100 would be a discount). Sometimes being an early adopter comes with a price (initial subscribers to Voom as a provider not a channel package had to pay a lot more money to be on the bleeding edge).

I believe that as ticked as people may be, they will be happy to have the rest of Voom and the other new HD channels that could be added.

It shouldn't be that hard to swing that $100 61.5 dish over to 129. :)

Unless there is a tree, building, or other obstacle in that direction which would require relocating the dish.

Yeah but 129 is pointed to the right of the Dish 500, won't it be in the path of the D500 signal?

Depends on your LOS. Here is VA, the 129 is 20-21 degrees, and hard to get here in the mountains and with the large amount of trees in the way.

Well, the signals from the satellites won't interfere with each other. But, I suppose if the two dishes are mounted very close to each other, the old 61.5 dish might bump into the Dish 500 before it gets to 129, or it could end up in the shadow of the Dish 500.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Dish 1000, just because I don't want to deal with two dishes.

I had to put up a D500 several feet east of my old D500/SD105 location to get past local line of sight problems. There are people who need to split dishes to get 119 and 110 due to line of sight problems.

My 61.5 dish is on a eastern wall. only reasonable place with line of sight.

Nobody made them pay $100 in June, it was purely their choice. As with a lot of things, there is a risk. The risk here was jumping on in the beginnings of this whole Voom thing instead of being patient and seeing how this developed. If they switch everything to a new position, well your choice then is to either move your dish or buy a new one. I am pretty sure that no where in the whole Voom deal was there any guarantee about which satellite the channels would be on and where they would stay. :)

This is just speculation, but I'm guessing we'll have to wait and see how Dish deals with subscribing the additional 11 Voom channels from a subscription package point of view (and also how they will continue to deal with subscribing the original 10 Voom channels).

I wonder if the existing $5/mo Voom package will be modified to include all 21 channels or if the additional 11 channels will be a separate package/upgrade.

I'd be surprised (and upset) if those who paid the $100 to put up a 61.5 dish now have to pay for additional hardware to keep their 10 Voom channels. But, I wouldn't be surprised if we have to pay for additional hardware to receive the additional 11 channels, especially if the additional 11 channels are broken off as a separate package.

All of New England is 129less. Seems like VOOM would remain at 61.5.

So, what should those of us who want to continue to receive CBS HD East do? Looking forward to your solution.

It should be obvious if you want to continue to receive CBSHD East. It is only available at 61.5 west.

There is nothing available at 129 west that would be of any use to Los Angeles in this situation.

That's a different problem. The first question/solution was if VOOM wasn't staying on 61.5. Nobody mentioned CBS-HD, PI, locals,...

Again assuming that VOOM won't be mirrored on 61.5 (unlikely scenario):
If you want 61.5 for CBS and 129 for VOOM, you'll need two dishes.

Make that 3 dishes or a Dish 1000 and still a 300/500 for 61.5. I have not tried for 129 although it would higher in the sky because I get a stronger signal on 61.5 than on 110/119, even with tweeking. 61.5 has about the same elevation as 148 here, where we HAD some Alb. locals and why I have a free dish and SW64.
If TP 11 and 12 are standards for 110/119, what are the odd/even bases (pl. of basis) for 61.5?

I spent a hundred dollars on a 1000 and threw away both dishes. Now i get voom on 129 and the rest on 110 or119. The kit comes with all lnb's necessary and hardware. Just point at 119 and the rest comes in automatically. really like my new set up. I get all my locals for program guide only on the 942. Dewey, Tampa

The VOOM Originals have to remain on 61.5 if only for the above senerio. Additional VOOM channels also have to be on 61.5 for the same reason. The only difference is in how they are modualted (MPEG 4). Those extra VOOM channels were all on 61.5 when Cablevision operated that service, they probably are still up there now, just not yet available to E* subs.

Voom is both available on 61.5 and 129. I switched from 61.5 to 129 when i put up the 1000 dish.
