i noticed on my guide it now shows six 4K channels.
Three are now PPV and one is sports, another is 104 then there is one for the women’s World Cup and the last one indicates that programs are upcoming. As luck would have it I think my SWM unit is dying as some of my channels are freezing and then they work again for a few minutes if I reboot the SWM. Oh well I guess this weekend I will be using up my spare SWM module.

These channels were updated April I believe

It's better to have 2 channels for 4k sports events because there have been times where 2 live 4k events will be running at same time .

During March madness they had to use the ppv channel often and in April they added the extra channel to Have 2 4k channels dedicated to the masters

Women's World Cup is being broadcast in 4K which will occupy 2 channels.
On a side note, today is National Doughnut Day. Now I need a doughnut or 2 with my coffee.

That goes to show you just how interested I have been in the 4K programming! I don’t think I have visited the 4K channels in at least a month. It was pretty good watching 104 for the first few weeks but that novelty kind of wore out because of the horrendously bad programming. If Directv is serious about 4K they really need to buy some good content and stop sending cameramen out to just film people doing surfing and bike riding in 4K.

Issue is not enough 4k content
DirecTV is the 4k sports leader right now, due to limitations from cable cos most cable cos dont even have 4k

Comcast has to air the world cup via IP as they dont have ch capacity for 4k. So dut to this 4k content /demand is slow

Is 105 part of the regular 4K package? I can see programming on 104 and 106 has the DTV logo, but 105 is telling me I’m not subscribed

Gotta love it, I called in and the level one person asked if I had pushed the red button on the main receiver. I told her yes and then I’m guessing she tried to reauthorize the service on my account. When that didn’t work, she said sorry, I need to escalate your call to the technical services group. I said fine and then she says before I transfer you, is there anything else I can help you with today. Would you be interested in signing up for cellular service where you get a feee phone and you just have to pay for the package? I’m thinking, I called you because your service isn’t working, you can’t fix it and yet you want me to buy even more stuff??? Just seemed really runny to me at the time.

It is a broadcast issue. Not isolated to directv

Reminded me of a similar issue in October when an MLB NLCS game was on local fox , I was unable to view the 4k feed , but could view the FS1 games

Oh yes this issue is that there is not enough 4K content!
The few games that they put on in 4K is ok while its free but I certainly would not pay for them. The main thing is I want nightly 4K content that me and my family can watch. DTV has almost none. Last night it was some guy talking about his love of music and showing off his album collection!

Directv is trying to convince the public that they have 4K but they really are not investing much into it.

Can you tell me another provider I can switch to right now that gives me more 4K content than DirecTV? I know my local Centurylink and Spectrum do not give me that option at all. Thanks.

Directv doesn't create any content, they broadcast other people's content. This is like buying a 5G phone and complaining that LG needs to invest money in putting up 5G towers where you live.

I assume it’s directv that is creating most of those low budget documentaries on 104?
If Directv is really going to wait until some network starts creating mastered 4K content they are going to have a long wait! The market for that is limited to just them so I don’t know how any company is going to make a buck off of that.
What they need to do is go proactive like Netflix and produce good content of their own, maybe farm it out to HBO and take a financial hit in order to motivate the people who will in turn motivate the market. They are doing it with sports, why not a series or two that will Get the people talking and wanting it.

Fox Sports is the one producing/ broadcasting "most" of the 4K sports content . NBC sports does some as well like EPL soccer and ND college football, but its mostly Fox Sports

Yes I agree att / Warner media does the 4k golf events or is that CBS... ??

But I get where your coming from ...

More and more TV providers are picking up 4k so mabye we will see more expansion...

Hopefully we do get HBO 4k !!

AT&T/DIRECTV is a service provider (not a content provider) that enables it's customers access to viewing content via satellite and streaming.
