you guys need to get a life, neener neener neener!
I called and got one of their most experienced CS reps. He told me that in order to receive channel 9420 I need to be able to receive all the other ones first.
I can't believe that 1103 receivers are not enough to receive ALL of the E* channels ... I realize that there are around 2000 channels across their six orbital locations, but nobody can get them all. At least not mere mortals like us.
Perhaps that is the key to this whole thing: 9420 is not available to "Mere Mortals" regardless of how many receivers one has.
Is that because we have a sense of humor or because we post at 2am-3am ET?
BTW: I have to confess to stacking. My 501 is sitting on top of one of my 301s. And my other 301 is sitting on top of a DVD player and VCR. :eek2: But it's only temporary. I plan on "moving" my 501 into another room. "Moving" receivers is legal, right?
2-3am???? You really do need to get a life. :eek2: It's 3 hours earlier, where I am.
That damn 811... It won't tune 9420. I can get 9420 on my new 721, what a picture it is! That's the best $249.99 I've spent.
(About the 811) I called 800-333-DISH(3474) and spoke briefly to a CSR before being sent up to a second level tech. After a torturous debugging routine, the 811 still can't tune 9420. After a final Smart-Card-Reset failed to work, my 811 was deemed to be faulty. Something about the 9420 chip being fried. Oh well, I have a replacement 811 on the way. It should be here Friday afternoon. I'll get it hooked up Friday evening and see if it's 9420 chip is in working order.
If you guys need something, I'll be away for the next 3-4 hrs. I need to go outside and experience something.
All of these rumors are killing me. Us loyal dish customers need a good HD shot in the arm and the addition of TNT HD this Friday would help. Keep your fingers crossed.
You may call it a sense of humor. For an AOL chat room it probably is humor. I, and others come here to this erroneously titled thread to get real information and find we waste our time reading your "humor" instead.
BTW, working at 2am doesn't mean the lack of a life. What is being passed as humor in this thread does.
Moderators, please retitle this thread or close it. It's a complete waste of time for those who get a social life elsewhere and come here for real information. Thanks.
Wow! Lighten up.
If you guys with a more prominent serious side would note, this thread ran it's course in about 10 posts. Everything until TNT-HD is launched is just noise in the air. When something concrete comes down, like an E* press release or TNT-HD actually lights up customers televisions, you can just monitor this forum's lead page. The title of the new thread should clue you in.
Jerry G, you might give Nick a run for the money for this forum's resident curmudgeon.
Yes it does, actually.
What passes for humor in your life? Three's Company? Eight Is Enough? Full House?
Somehow, I don't think it's Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, or George Carlin. Call it a hunch.
"...numerous reports have said that TNT-HD - the latest high-definition programming offered to DISH customers - is now available on DISH channel 9420." -SkyRETAILER.com as of today the 20th of May.
I don't think so. :nono:
Being the official RC requires much more than just having an occasional bad day (or night) and being momentarily grumpy. One must be grumpy all the time. Think of curmudgery as a dedicated lifestyle that calls for a commitment to being creatively caustic and aggressively acerbic, with a pant load of not-so-subtle sarcasm thrown in for good measure.
Besides, I have been appointed for life, or until I get kicked off, whichever comes first. However, I do serve at the pleasure of da boss and I placed well in a recent popularity contest.
Now, back to topic! :backtotop
i work for dish in the hd department and tnt hd is coming 5 oclock eastern time on channel 9420 tomorrow 5/21/04 it will be a press release tomorrow.
wow I didn't know they had their own department, it must be hard to manage, you got some good credibility there, so I guess you're gonna get fired for leaking that info...
I'm sorry that you don't have time for fun. We relieved our annoyance at the sillyness of some responses with humor. You have chosen to scold participants.
Oh well. Hopefully you'll get a vacation soon.
hehe - give the guy a break for ch* sake
besides - i am sure he is not the only one who works there at that hd department
So ... Hopefully ... - he will not lose a job over this...
Not a big deal.. and nice of him anyhow
Yeah ... repost information from one of the first posts as "guest".
It will happen, or not. Guaranteed!
"To be or not To be" -------> That is the question!
More accurately "TNT or not TNT" :hurah:
UNSUBSTANCIATED RUMOR from a relatively reliable source in concert with other posts here and other fora
TNT HD will launch at 5pm Eastern Friday. Free to HD Pack subs.
While I would be delighted if this turns out to be true, I am trying to manage my expectations here. Surely, Dish is not going to lauch a channel with a couple of hours notice? The fact that there is no official word even this morning suggests to me that it cannot happen?
They are obviously not "in negotiations," so what possible reason could E* have for keeping an anticipated channel launch secret?
File under "confessions of a Dish subscriber": In an attempt to cleanse my soul and possibly save myself from eternal damnation, I would like to publicly confess that I broke down yesterday and ordered Voom. Install is scheduled for early next week. May I be forgiven?
