I have an external HDD on my HR-21 that is starting to give very flaky playback, despite doing the surface test as described on this board. I would like to try replacing the drive.

However, I have no way to hook up both drives to my computer (which is a Mac). Is there a way to take a disk image off the old drive, store it, and then swap the drives, and put the image on the new disk? I would really prefer not to buy a separate USB enclosure just for this process.

I have no problem with booting to Linux if need be.
