This 8/28/13 TPN Map is our initial endeavor to display sub-channel numbers as a part of the channel number.

All four channel categories, CONUS, LIL, OTA and HYBRID, now have the sub-channels shown in nnn.x notation,
    that is (channel)(dot)(subchannel).

While the dot notation has always been used for the OTA channels, the current convention uses a 'dash' notation, nnn-x, for LIL and CONUS sub-channels and alternate channels.

We are not using the 'dash' notation because Excel is our current vehicle and it does not deal well with the dash separator.

EDIT 9/4/13 We are now able to use the dash notation in the Excel reports.

Looking at the run it picked up the HD subchannels correctly, but it looks like something happened with the SD subchannels. They still show up as entries without subchannels, however the Notes are all blank and any of them that use the same call sign (i.e. ESNa or BTNa) and the same major channel (i.e. 209 or 610) show up as one entry.

It would be interesting to see your snapshots of the channels, when they are on your TV screen...

Just as a test - a second TPN Map for 130828 is uploaded, the filename includes the word 'dash'. This version is displaying the dash in a way that hopefully, Excel is not allergic to.

Is adding the 'dash' notation worth it?
Is the 'dot' notation fully adequate?

Your feedback will tell me ...........
    :)

I haven't had the time to thank you for all your effort, it sure would have been very useful long time ago when I was searching this signal for the first time
when they only offered round dish out of 101W only satellites called DBS 1, DBS 2, DBS 3 renamed DirecTV 1,2,3......now it's crazy so many channels & satellites.....
The thing went to craziness level when they started with the LIL (DMA)

One silly question I have been searching for the Puerto Rico info on where they download the EPG if I recall you stated earlier this year in some other post, they where using a feed out of 110 W?
is that info reflected in these excel attachments?

    Best Regards.

    Rafael,

The APG information for Puerto Rico is provided in Post #9 of this thread.

The APG dataand a great deal more is not provided in the weekly Excel only because that document is already 1 MB in size and includes close to 10,000 records.

Of note; with this update the transition to the 'dash notation' for sub-channels is complete. That includes CONUS, LIL, OTA and HYBRID sub-channels. The motivation has been to have the TPN_Map display the channel information precisely as it is presented in the Guide.

You might want to do another grab of 95 for the next run. They made some changes to the South Asian packages today.

    Hey Gary;

I notice now on LyngSat for G3C and from what I can make out on a DIRECTV LA Uruguay blog I check from time to time, that transponder 33 of Beam Oeste is now transmitting HD programming and sent most of it's former SD traffic to Oeste's tps. 27 and 36 (according to the blog).

Do you know if transponder 33 is therefore now no longer a part of Beam Oeste (GLA-0) and switched to Beam Sur (GLA-1)?

Or is Beam Oeste now carrying HD channels?

The latest TP. map for DLA is a bit dated now at 7/12/13, but does show hints of this change coming with mostly TEST channels at the time listed on Beam Oeste's tp. 33.

    HoTat2,

You are correct that a lot of changes have taken place and are in progress in DLA. They have gone unreported here for these past few months. Our team member in South America has not been able to provide data following that 7/12/13 Latin TPN Map, because of suicidal hardware problems. But I believe that within the next week (I hope) we will have the replacement hardware operational and be back in business.

I have been reluctant to pass along 'teaser' comments about changes, without being able to also provide the detailed TPN Map that folks could use to see the real source.

You should have a new Latin TPN Map shortly. The changes and channel growth are significant for the DLA markets which have been relatively stagnant until the shifting of Puerto Rico to US Domestic resources.
