So I'm on a trip in Mexico. I have NFL Sunday day ticket max. Firing up the app it said something about not working outside the USA? Isnt this one if the benefits of the max package being able to watch my games when away from home?! Confused.

Away from home does not mean away from country. DirecTV® does not have rights to broadcast NFL outside of the USA

I've been to a few big tourist towns in Mexico during football season and have always was able to find a sports bar with Sunday Ticket (although all were from a Canadian satellite company that had the Canada version of Sunday Ticket).

Thanks! Apparently I can try using my connection to my GenieGo and watch it though my DVRS recording if all else fails. Seems the WiFi is pretty decent.

Sounds like a Slingbox would be a better purchase than a GenieGo.

Or they could use common sense and have the rights follow the American customer and not depend on a location.

You CAN use one of the various VPN options that will give your computer an IP address that is US based. That would allow you to use your Sunday Ticket on your PC

It is usually offered by other providers in other countries. SKY Mexico has exclusive rights in Mexico. In Canada, many providers carry NFL Sunday Ticket under a non-exclusive arrangement.

The thing is it works fine for MLB at bat through the Extra Innings subscription. It is ridiculous that the NFL blocks US based subscribers when out of the country.

Last year Red Zone channel worked but they fixed it for this year so no go.

Thanks NFL, the only times I have a need to actually use my max subscription you block it.

You can blame those outside of the country who illegitimately got a US subscription. Their fraud is costing you your freedom.

I thought it checked for ping times to try to detect VPN connections.

Seems quite a stretch. What kind of fraud did they commit against the NFL in the past that led to this decision, yet MLB didn't feel the same way? In fact, MLB restrictions in Mexico have been non-existent for those nagging Saturday games of the past and there is no team that is blacked out during the season.

Can you please substantiate your post with um...facts?

Worked for me when I was in Madrid on a business trip. Biggest issue was just getting a good enough Wi Fi signal in the hotel.
