Interesting thread. I didn't realize that anyone disliked daylight savings time. We always look forward to it. More daylight at night which is great, means summer is coming, awesome, especially as it's in the 20s tonight again.

They are better at giving nightmares I think....

Yeah sure we have a lot of freeways you can take to drive in a loop. Maybe more than anyone else because of how spread out we are. But we are missing the traditional loop freeway. And are bypasses don't even truly bypass either. 210 is a great example of that. Although our 405 is a good example of a bypass freeway from form. But it just doesn't really bypass squat these days so it fails in function I suppose....

Somewhere near me, apparently. We're expecting a winter storm tomorrow with 4-6 inches of snow in some high spots. Temps tonite in the 20s as usual.

It's not DST we don't like it's the bouncing back and forth.

I saw that. Wow! Stay safe.

Given the time of year, it may be a heavy wet snow. Have you gotten to use your generator yet?

    It's 40 degrees out and snowing, nothing's sticking, it's just snowing...AGAIN!!!... :nono2:

Nope, haven't used the generator once. I figured that with my lack of any luck but bad luck I'd never need it, but it will make a nice selling point for the house if we ever decide to move (I'm trying to justify the cost of that thing).

Exactly the same here, both weather and generator. I test the Honda EU6500is (invertor) every once and a while, but no productive use yet. But all prepared!

He was talking about my whole home generator. That comes on once a week to recharge the batteries. But, not one power outage since I had it installed. Snowing like all get-out now, but the roads are clear. Just checked the temperature outside and it's dropped from 40 to 38. Not what I wanted to see. The worst part of the storm seems to be hitting us right now.

But when you do it will be worth twice what you paid. Ours ran for 36 hours with the last snow storm. We were all warm and went about our day like we had power. Which we did. Had some neighbors up for dinner and one couple slept over. The other ones camped out in front of their gas fireplace.

Got one for my mom this fall after my dad passed. I think she almost fainted when I told her how much it cost, but hers has run 3 times now and she is very happy she has it.

Well, we weathered another big sloppy snowstorm yesterday. Power didn't go out. Just once, just one time I'd like to stand in the middle of my court and say, "See?" Even if it's only for an hour.

That makes the most sense to me, too. Probably too simple for legislators.

You know that if you didn't have your back-up system, you would have lost power many times since you had it installed.

I've been without power for a week (though it has been many years since that happened) and managed to survive just fine... I'm not knocking generators, but weighing the cost of having them vs not having them... being without power is free!

Should know/remember how bad it was.

It's bad enough to get up at Oh Dark Thirty, but you all can keep your Oh My God Dark Thirty to yourselves :nono:

And people probably used to say the same thing about air conditioning. ;)

I think in another 10+ years they will be as standard as A/C is now.

Was it weather related? I don't recall anything that severe in the last week.
