unable to set timer

I had set EMPIRE FALLS on hbo to record both part 1 & 2. Only part 1 recorded. I then tried to record part 2. A timer could not be set for part 2 even using a different date. I then waited until the program started and then pressed record. It asked which tv to record then it said setting timer but it didn't set it. Is their any way to record this.
