They really need an undelete on DVRs
That would be nice but have you ever seen a DVR that did that? Serious question, I don't think I have.
I don't remember the models, but all three of our DIRECTV DVRs used to have Undelete. I think Compnurd is correct; they were Tivo models.
DISH has undelete on on Hoppers.
I had a senior moment and deleted a show I hadn't watched yet. Thought it was a different show.
The current DirecTV HD-TiVo THR22-100 still has the option. The older DirecTiVo's had the option with the 6.4 software update as well (called the Recently Deleted Folder).
There is a reasonable likelihood that the deleted episode is available on-demand. Consider on-demand as the “undelete” function of DTV programming.
Did the D* Tivos have that feature? Only Tivos I've ever used.
Surprised, I am. I had a lot of them.
Yeah, I thought of that but unfortunately it was a syndicated show which is shown on different stations across the country. There were some listed with on-demand but different air dates. May show up in the future and I am keeping my eye out for it. In other words, my senior moment picked the worst possible combination to occur. Of course, that's always the way.
Sometimes it is a 'senior moment'; other times it is hardware.
Like when one of my HR24s sometimes I have to wait 10 seconds for a response. Before I realized it was a lag issue, I had pressed other buttons. Deleting a show I didn't intend to delete.
But I guess that is a 'senior moment' of the DVR.
Don't feel bad, I had one last week. Usually I record my favorite TV series and watch them later. NCIS is one of those series. Last week I decided to watch it live and tried to fast forward through the commercials using the ADVANCE button on my DIRECTV remote. To my frustration it wouldn't work no matter how many times I tried until I remembered I was watching live TV.
What show was it, can you get it on demand?
I tried watching On Demand for the first time a few weeks ago. Oh Boy. 5 minute commercial breaks you can't FF through and the same 2 or 3 ads played repeatedly.
I still have a couple of HR10-250's in use (no longer activated, just DVR players with previously recorded programs). They have that option. The shows never completely get deleted, since nothing gets recorded on top of the space. The TiVo DVR40/80/120 and HDVR2's had the option as well with the software updates at that time.
It was a nice feature for sure.....
