I'm curious where you got that I'm hoping that the channel isn't carried? I actually hope that DirecTV does indeed carry this channel, and not based solely on my amusement of DirecTV's past statements, but because I actually want to watch it.

In order for it to be carried someone has to "cave". If it is carried you will never know if DirecTV caved (which is against your wishes). The only way to guarantee that DirecTV did not cave is to not have the channel. :)

If this channel isn't picked up, then there will only be a couple Pac 12 games on DirecTV a week. This is a disaster.

When you subscribe to "The Sports Leader" you expect to be able to see your favorite teams play. So when that doesn't happen, it pisses me off...get over it.

Take it up with "your" teams and their leagues and conferences then. They were the ones who instead of just renewing their deal with the existing networks created a bidding war for the rights that started this whole mess of expensive sports networks, who now expect the providers to pass the cost on to all of their subscribers to recover their winning bid.

Before this the games were usually available on channels like ABC/ESPN, NBC Sports/Versus, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, a RSN, locally produced by a station or syndicated via ESPN Plus or Raycom. Anyone who insisted on having more games available to them that weren't picked up for national or local distribution had an OPTION to do so via PPV or ESPN Game Plan. Now they want everyone to pay for a new channel, while they still have to pay for the existing channels who won't be dropping their cost anytime soon because of the other bidding wars they got into to keep the rights they still have or got to replace the teams that left them.

    You do; I don't expect every game of my favorite teams except the Giants, Niners and Sharks. I see you're pissed off, as you've demo'ed for some time; you're the one who needs to "get over it" if anyone does;

I did a long time ago.

Just because they are the "sports leader" that doesn't mean that they should cave in to extortion. Some sports programmers are asking for outrageous fees. Would you have Directv simply accept whatever demands Fox Sports makes and just pass it on top their customers? I don't want that. Somebody has to draw the line somewhere.

Uh, no. Directv is not claiming to have it all. Just the most.

I guess of your team claims to be the leader in their sport, you claim they lied of they lose a game?

Don't be silly. If you buy a product, learn what it is before you buy or don't buy it. And don't assume you will get 100% of anything from anybody. Ain't gonna happen.

If you're not happy why don't you switch providers or get Dish or cable as a supplement?

I can understand eskynyt point in away, but I can totally understand Directv's point. I mean the costs of pay tv have skyrocketed over the years and I can understand their point of view in making sure its a win win for everyone. And I do hope FS1 gets added to D's lineup on Saturday or soon their after, but if it is not then its ok. I mean sometimes business is business and this is one of those cases. As far as PAC 12 networks goes, in away they brought on themselves for not having top tier games more often as that would of been the trigger for getting it on D.

Actually you have it backwards. It's the channels who want live programming that are driving up the costs because that's what the advertisers want.. Sports gives the advertisers a locked-in audience because unlike most TV programming, you can't skip through commercials when you are watching a live event.

So you state you expect to receive every game of the Giants, Niners and Sharks, but other people should "get over it" if they don't receive every game of their favorite teams. Gotcha.

I know it's the interwebs and all, but you can't make up some of the stuff you read here sometimes...

I wonder how true that really is. I never watch anything live, with sports I will purposely not start watching a game on DVR until at least the scheduled end time of that game. The commercials are ridiculous now, football and hockey intermissions are the worst. I can get through a football or hockey game in about 70-75 minutes, less than half of what it would take to watch a game live. I have got my friends on board with this so this works when watching games with friends in social settings as well.

Live sporting events will always be in demand because who wants to watch an event if the outcome is already known...unless you can totally insulate and isolate yourself from the outside world.

Also I agree, I think the big ten network has second-hand junk for games, I don't like it therefore I don't think it should even be on DirecTV. That subjective, narcissistic thinking is great.

I think I did a poll here about live or recorded sports, and even us DVR geeks preferred live. Social media and access to sports news and scores can ruin outcomes.

You completely misconstrue my meaning. It so happens that in some markets, everyone gets their local pro teams. My expectation is based on what is (here), not what it should be any and everywhere.
I am in the same boat as others for college sports.
As to the "get over it", it's parallel to a previous post that's ben repeated ad infinitum. I don't get every game of my favorite college teams, but so far it hasn't ruined my life.
