    From Variety:
Several things about this year's Upfront are clearly apparent. Media buyers are looking for price reductions. According to TV Week:
    The LA Times noted:
Advertising Age notes that buyers are fighting to buy shows, not networks:
It wouldn't surprise me to see a radical change in a few years where a show's producer will go find sponsors first, then auction the show to the networks with a specified number of 30 second commercial breaks that will be allowed to the networks and their affiliates to sell.

There's some shuffling of the schedule including plans to pit "Fringe" against against ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," NBC's "The Office" and CBS' "CSI". (Ouch!) See this article from The Hollywood Reporter which says:

I'm inclined to agree, though the article says Fox thinks it has a chance as viewers are already moving away from "CSI". It is a scifi crime procedural. So they'll try it here where it won't get the ratings and then move it to Friday to kill it off completely.:nono2:

Well, let's see what Til' Death looks like this coming season. If it's a continuation of last season, I won't be watching it.

I am hopeful that a fall-season version of SYTYCD will do well.

Yep, but you have to be able to record more than two things at once to get "Fringe", "CSI" and "Greys". Many have that ability (including me) but not everyone does.

And then, of course, there is the fact that DVR'd shows count nearly zero in the eyes of advertisers so the two most DVR'd don't do as well holding off cancellation.

If you mean these shows should count towards ratings, they probably never will. If the show is recorded, it's almost a guarantee commercials won't be viewed. So phrelin's take on how advertisers value recordings is probably right on the money. /steve

Yeah, especially when there are phrases like "Matrix instead of the Sequoia" on shows like Bones (with a clear view of the Toyota Logo) .. Product Placement is going to mean more and more and DVR or no DVR, watch it within the first few days and it's gotta count .. Heck, I watched that Bones Episode (March Recording) last night and the ad is still relevant.

I think Fringe will be fine actually. Both CSI and Grey's are on their last legs. CSI is really tanking and may only have another season or two in it unless they milk it waaaaay too long. Grey's is also long in the tooth. Fringe has a core audience that frankly I think will watch Fringe first, then watch CSI or Grey's on DVR, assuming they even watch the others.
And they gave Bones a 2 year renewal so Fox may finally be trying to build a Thursday night lineup that can stick for a few years.

Besides, what does Fox do, just give up on the hour and schedule nothing? They have built some decent returning series this year and are more competitive.

Plus the fact these networks always change things up. After Fox's "World Series" break things usually change.

I posted this on another thread, but since it's part of Fox's Upfront sales effort, I'll post it here also. Just when I thought they had abandoned "Remote Free TV", Fox announces this wrinkle (From Advertiisng Age):
Hmmm. If they mix these things, the skip button might not be so useful. Might have to revert to FF.;)

I don't agree. Both Grey's and CSI have jumped the shark... time to move on. My wife has deleted both of those from her SL's and she loves Fringe.

I watch all three. Fringe being my favorite i typically watch it the same day it airs (or the next morning if I go to sleep early). Grey's I'm usually 1-2 weeks behind and I've probably got 10 episodes of (the original) CSI to watch yet. I don;t see how Grey's jumped the shark and I'd find it hard to believe CSI did but I have not caught up on it yet to say for sure.

While my personal preference is for Fringe I don't think I'm in the majority there.
