    Hi All!
I currently have three TVs with the following receivers:
    HR44-500
    HR23-700
    C41-500 (Genie Mini)

I would like to upgrade to 4K on one TV. Also, the HR23 is old and doesn't work well.
I called DTV and asked for upgrade deals and was told $646!!! to get new receivers. I have been with DTV for 24 years and have not paid for receivers in over ten years.

What should I be asking for and shouldn't I be able to get new boxes for free or with offsetting credits?

Call again and say cancel service at the prompt.
They will ask you to confirm you want to cancel, say yes (you won't be canceled).
That will get you to the retention department.
    Your chances are better there.

Thanks but I have been transferred to Loyalty Dept multiple times and still no deals. They gave me a phone number with a PIN

We’re they giving you the Genie 2? I was quote about $500 for one with four TVs. I ended up with Genie and a mini for 4K.

Do you know if your account has been transitioned from D* to ATT? You don't usually need a pin number for D* accounts.

It had not been back in September when I called about Sunday Ticket. Even at that time though they would give me a call back number with a PIN

Definitely a D* number. When did they start the PIN number thing? When my account transitioned to ATT I was told to pick a PIN immediately upon making the first call. Interesting.

DTV has been using those 4-digit PINs for as long as I can remember for return calls. Helps them route the calls I guess.

I've had a 6 digit password on my account for many years. Probably why I was never asked for a PIN. When the account was transitioned I gave that password to a CSR and was told I'd have to use a PIN. Thought it was an ATT thing.

    Guys -
I was told that that number and PIN would get me through to the Loyalty Dept as the regular reps could not find any deals.
So back to my original question:
Are there any deals/discounts to Upgrade to 4K?
    Thanks so much

You will need to call to find out. They vary from person to person and rep to rep.

Let me go back to my original question. Based on my current equipment and TVs, what do I need to get 4K on the one TV? A Genie 2 and one mini?

You have two choices. Replace your HR44-500 with either a HR54 or a HS17 (AKA Genie 2). The HR54 has a 1 TB Hard Drive and can be connected to a TV. It will work with receivers, DVRs and clients. It will need a C61K-700 client for 4K service. The HR54 works with one 4K client at once. The HS17 is a headless server. It has a 2 TB Hard Drive and cannot be connected to a TV. It works only with clients which means you have to replace your HR23-700 with a client. The HS17 will need a C61K-700 client for 4K service. It works with two 4K clients at once.

Thanks for all the good info!
Which configuration would you go with?
Either way the HR23 definitely needs to be replaced

It depends on your needs. If you need the tuners the HR23 provides and it's recording ability then go with the HR54 and have them replace the HR23 with a HR24. If not then go with the HS17 and clients.
