    Mo.
Gentlemen. I have a tech showing up to upgrade my equipment so I can get 4K.
    Yes, I have a 4K tv. Current equipment is an HR44-700 and 1 C41-500.
What can I expect or request.I want to keep things the same 1 4K tv and 1 Not 4K.

    Thank you in advance.

You will need to get an HR-54 and C61K. The C61K goes on the 4K set and the HR-54 goes on the other TV.

Or an HS-17 with a C61K on the 4K TV and keep the C41-500 on the non 4K TV. The HS-17 cannot be hooked directly to a TV.

At a minimum the HR44 and C41 will have to go for an HR54 and C61K 4K client ...

And the 4K client must be connected to the 4K TV.

Also per policy for 4K installs, the tech. "should" install a SL-3RB Reverse Band capable LNB on the Slimeline dish if you don't already have one.

It's not necessary to receive 4K programming at present as none are currently transmitting on the Reverse Band, but may do so in the future.

Wow. Thank you guys for the quick response ! The Tech is here now.
    Looks like I'm getting the HS-17 and 2 clients ? Will the C61K work on a non 4Ktv ?

They didn't offer me the SL-3RB Reverse Band capable LNB when I upgraded to 4K and when my existing LNB went bad later and they came out to replace it they refused to give me the reverse band LNB.

Yes. And if you upgrade that TV to 4K you will be able to watch 4K on both of them at the same time.

Ok, but to note, unless they've changed the FW on the C61K since the last time I checked. If you connect a C61K to a non-4K TV, while it works, it will keep giving you a annoying periodic "nag" screen telling you the TV is not a 4K set.

    Yeah ...

That's why I said "should" and placed it in quotation marks in my post earlier ....

    Why the refusal?

He told me it was because I have 14 tuners and the reverse band LNB couldn't do that many which I don't believe is correct.

Well. He installed an HS17 and 2 C61K clients. I got the reverse band LNB. I specifically asked him about the LNB. He said "You have done your homework". Thanks to you guys.
I left the conversation at that. You guys rock !

No worries. That tv is in the basement and doesn't get used a bunch.
It has been on for about 3 hours now and I have not seen the 4K message. (yet)

Asking those guys anything is usually a waste of time. We have guys here (DBS) who do that work and they obviously know what they are doing but none of them or anybody like them have ever been in my home.

Agreed. I'm sure the real reason is just because he didn't want to do it.

You want to have some fun, give D* a call and ask for a reverse band LNB. I did, got nowhere but it was interesting.

That is actually what I did and when he got here is when the above took place.

You did better than I did. I couldn't get past the CSR. I know how to get installers to do what I want, me and Mr. Franklin usually get what we want/need. Damn shame you have to bribe people to get what you want but I've been doing that for years.

You Currently DO NOT Need the RB LNB to Receive and record 4K channels --They Are supposed to install Them when you "UPGRADE" to 4K ( your Guy Didn't Want to Waste his time) because at sometime in the Distance Future (if Ever) a RB will be needed and then D* won't have to make a lot of Service calls when the make the change.

When they came out with my HR54 and C61K when I got 4K I also asked for the RB LNB and they said there was no reason to change it. Then when that LNB went bad I asked again for RB LNB. Refused again. Same installer both times.
