So techincally if I wanted to sub up to AT60 w/ locals (now on 129) I could ditch 110 :) interesting Idea, I was a former E* sub but cancelled many yeras ago but still have my D500 and D300 (which is currently used for skyangel lifetime) so techincally I could aim my D500 at 119/129 and sub up to At60 and locals (my locals appear on 129 now -- was a 105 market) and I could get locals)

*thinks* E* might gain a customer back...

Matt, it might be a while before that will fly past the CSRs. :)

If I can get them to turn on locals woudlnt it authorize 105 and 129 at the same time? or is it a different Smartcard code for the 129 signal? I know some have mentioned here about seeing Voom on 129.

Or if I ordered locals would they insist on coming out and doing a superdish install?

I set up my E* stuff on my own when I had AT180 and Skyangel way back when...

Since my equipment has been paid for for years (curently only have Skyangel) -- my D500 is in my closet unused) I dont see why i culdnt set it up and sub up and have it come active :)

But as you all say, its up to E* actaully authorizing the channels.

They sometimes are quite persistent about making sure you have the correct equipment and maybe their script says SuperDiSH now and maybe tomorrow(or someday) it will say DiSH1000. I just tell them I have 61.5,105,110,119,121,148 and now 129. :)

    I have 119, 110 on my Starband dish & 129 using the 119 yoke of my D500 - all legacy into a SW64. Also (1) 811 and (2) 311's.

Just called Dish, option 2 for programming, option 0 for "all others".

Asked CSR: "All of the VOOM channels are shown in red on my receiver, can you please add the Voom package for me?"

CSR: "please hold... <hold music, then later> Uh, I'm having trouble seeing what kind of dish you have..."

Playing dumb: "That's interesting, I'm not sure what kind of dish I have, but I can see all of the VOOM channels listed in Red".

CSR: "Hmm... well, if you have "local channel x" listed on your receiver, then you must have the 'right kind of satellite dish'".

Playing dumb: "Yup, I can see those channels".

CSR: "Ok, well then you must have the right kind of dish, I've just activated the channels, please call us back if you have problems."

After I rebooted my 811 all of the VOOM channels are now in business! Woo hoo!

Great so now voom will continue to repeat their programing since even more people are just now getting to see voom programming for the first time

It is good to see people getting their channels off of 129, but please remember that E* hasn't announced service from there. Consider yourselves beta testers. :)

(Of course DBSTalk members have a long history of beta testing.)

"cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am) ((I use technology, therefore I am a beta tester))

I'm not too concerned if they shut off E5 for a while, after all - they'll have to turn it back on the minute they have the first D1000 installed, which shouldn't be too far off now.

John H, do you have all of that setup on one reciever or is it broken down somehow?

What technically is the Dish1000 supposed to do? When will it be available?

A Dish1000 is a three head DBS dish that is slightly wider than a Dish500 and can receive DBS signals from three orbital locations, Dish500's 119-110 and the new 129.

The release date hasn't been announced, although with channels active it is probably "soon".

A quick Voom question and I hope I don't hijack this thread too much:
I spent about 30 minutes on the phone today with a csr at Dish to get Voom activated. I was willing to take a chance swinging my 148 dish over to 129 (since I can't see 61.5 at all).

He said there was a $99.95 activation fee that they would not wave no matter what.
And that an installer would have to come out to verify it was working.

To make sure the guy wasn't confused about me not having the right dish, I told him my extra dish was pointed at 61.5 already.

I know they charge a fee for an extra dish but now a Voom activation fee of a $100???

I wonder if in his own way, he was telling me that everyone would need a dish at 129 for Voom eventually?

And instead of explaining what was going on when I asked him, he kept changing the subject and hard selling that I upgrade my basic package from Top 60. I finally told him to forget it and hung up.

Time for CSR Roulette. :) You can get Voom activated for free without an installation. The CSR you talked to was a moron.

    See ya

Ya, I think it is 5.99 a month, just get a guy who will do what you want.

Just say you own the equipment and have done the installation yourself, everything is active and working... If they won't do it, talk to a 'supervisor'

I have all of the sats coming in here to 8-way multiswitches. I also have a DISH500 twin. I have 1 SW64 connected 61.5,110 and 119. I have a drawer full of SW21s and several A/B A/B/C switches. When I need a particular configuration I just change a switch setting or if necessary switch cables. Seems like I have been installing F connectors for about 7 years now. Gotta do some more later today for tonights NFL Preseason on C and Ku band. :D

Currently for 77w and 129w I have a DBS LNBF taped to the side of the C/Ku feed on the 10' Prime Focus dish which has a positioner. I plan to reaim the 91w or 82w dish at 129w soon. Don't have much if any use for those dishes since most channels are encrypted. Was nice when WGN-DT was in the clear. :)

Does this mean I can just re-aim my 148 dish to 129 and get the VOOM channels? What do I lose off of 148 except CBS HD (which I get OTA anyway)? Would the ideal situation be to aim the dish, get the VOOM channels in the guide, then call Dish and ask for activation?

Depending on local channels sub and location in So Cal, you might lose some of your locals at least for a while. Also, Pentagon Channel and Classic Arts Showcase just to mention a couple of PIs on 148.
