China is an up and coming team. The women Chinese Curlers are world champs and I expect the men to be in a similar position in 4 years.

After watching the UK vs Canada mens match it was very clear we have regressed in curling that past 4 years. Night and Day difference on the level of curling that is being played between the USA and UK/Canada. Here's to hoping we catch back up and field a better team in 4 years.

    Some numbers:
    "•Hockey, P.S.: MSNBC's USA-Canada hockey game drew 4.3% of U.S. TV households.

Ratings, like any stats, are open to interpretation. That 4.3% is MSNBC's third-highest rating ever, behind only its Democratic presidential debate in February 2008 and the analysis show that followed it.

But here's another way of looking at it: MSNBC's hockey rating was 48% below what ESPN drew for the NFL Pro Bowl exhibition game on a Sunday night three weeks ago.

NBC's Vancouver prime-time coverage is averaging 14.5% of U.S. TV households. That's up 20% over the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, which were the lowest-rating Games since 1988. Milwaukee, averaging 22.8% nightly, remains the top-drawing local TV market, followed by Denver, Salt Lake and Seattle."

    Such passionate Curling fans.
Who knew they were out there. Compared to the hockey fan, they are tame, but still...

This is not the right forum to call someone out for whether they live in a communist or capitalist society. Please refrain from that sort of name calling, thanks.

Its not like the communists have much choice about where they live. Communits countries are pretty notorious for doing everything possible to prevent their people from leaving. I wouldnt be suprised if some of the Chinese athletes wanted to defect, but I'm willing to bet the commies there have made sure certain things happen if they do.

Also, how many hoops did Yao Ming have to jump through to get his government to allow him to play in the NBA?

Dont hate the athletes, hate the powers behind them.

Yeah, what ever happened to our 2006 team? They were at least better than our current one, and our skip then was much better than John Shuster is now. Shuster is just awful and was responsible for 3 or 4 of our losses. I can't believe that he was reinstated as skip last night and had last rock, because like previous games, he made multiple costly blunders that led to the US team not gaining several points.

Word is that the USA's quarterfinal hockey game will be tape delayed for the West Coast. They never tape delay other NHL games on NBC, so why this? I WILL NOT watch the game on NBC if they tape delay it.

As far as I can tell, NBC has been tape delaying everything, even the daytime broadcasts...

    Yep. And no idea.

Also, the main event that NBC builds its olympic coverage around, figure skating...joined half an hour in progress at the start of primetime.

They cant even get their money making events right. (doubleplaying this and Can/Germany)

Canada must win this game to make the medal round, correct?

Yes, this is single elimination now. Win or go home. (or in Canadas case, possibly witness an epic riot in the streets of Vancouver).

Also, I give up on figure skating. Ladies figure skating was the ONLY event I watched during the Torino games in '06 because I didnt have cable, and they showed that at the very least uncut. Here they join it half an hour in progress and make it sound like they had just started this minute, despite the fact that you could hear the PA announcer announcing the scores of the skater that had gone just before NBC finally turned on the cameras, and then afte one skater they skip to bobsledding.

I want a faster internet connection so I can stream some other countries high def stream for the next games. I cant ****ing take this bull**** from NBC anymore.

If it was on CNBC, those in my area with Comcast would have to watch it on sd.
Not all Comcast areas have CNBC in HD.

So now for this Czech/Latvia game, is NBC rebranding a CTV telecast, or are they just renting their commentators for the night?

It's the direct CTV broadcast. A lot of the online replays of curling and hockey on nbcolympics.com are replays of the direct CTV or TSN original broadcast.

So, today's game between US and Switzerland is on NBC at 3 o'clock. I am certain my local news is going to start as scheduled at 5, and I expect that will happen everywhere in the east. The game isn't going to be over by then. Any idea what channel they will move it to for the last period???? Great planning!!!

They've run over their 3-5 block a few times so far without moving to a different channel. I assume they'll do the same today.

Thanks NBC for the stupidity of delaying the USA-Swiss hockey game in the Pacific Time Zone. Not only will we know the results before its aired, it will be on at the same time here as the Canada-Russia game.
This is a major disservice to hockey fans in the West and NBC should be embarrassed to consider themselves a sports leader. In addition, NBC plans on delaying the Gold Medal game this Sunday in the Pacific Timne Zone by the same three hours. I said this before the games started and I will repeat it: NBC is a third rate network.

I haven't watched NBC for more than 5 minutes since the Olympics began. CTV's coverage, while understandably Canadian-centric, is much, much better and every single second is live.
