they want more money for VS, problem is most people dont' watch it. Look at the #'s from ESPN when they showed the Gretzky movie versus a live NHL game on VS, http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2...-watch-movie-about-hockey-than-actual-hockey/ As much as a lot of us are sports fans, VS doesn't draw that big of a # for DirecTV to justify paying the increase.

Please tell my why Comcast screwing D* when it comes to CSN Philly and CSN NW is ok. Should D* just bend over and take it. This is D* chance at using Versus for leverage to get those two RSN's. In a perfect world service providers wouldn't be allowed to own networks, then their incentive would be to get the widest distribution possible, rather than use its networks as leverage to drive people to its cable.

As a Sabres fan, I'm sure glad I had cable to watch the VS game last night. That was one of their best overall performances in a long time. The announcers on VS talked about how their play last night looked like the Red Wings style of years past. And that's quite a compliment.

Glad I was able to see it, but it would have looked even better in HD! Please give us back our VS HD channel!

You are correct, that picture of the GE/NBCU channels was from last year. As someone else pointed out and you noted, it doesn't include the weather channel. Although in the Dallas market, we still get the NBC Weather+ channel OTA on 5-2, so that part is accurate.

I missed the Red Wings game last night. Guess what? The sun still came up this morning. Kudo's to D* for not giving in to the crooks at Comcast.

It's been rainy and overcast the last couple weeks down here. So the sun has been coming up in the Dallas area, but its been cloudy ever since we lost VS. Maybe a sign. And I'm not trying to start a "My teams better then yours battle" with my next statement. Honestly, if you are a Red Wings fan, you should be glad you missed last nights game.

Ditto. That's 2 Wings games I've missed. The first was during the day and I was at work listening to the audio. Last night, I played PS3 (Uncharted2) instead.

DirecTV, Dish, FiOS and Comcast are the options where I live. Comcast would be last on the list if I were to switch providers.

No kidding. Sounds like they took it on the chin in the 2nd. Osgood allowed 4 goals on 7 shots. Yikes.

And not to fuel the "My teams are better than yours". However, you better be careful talking about Buffalo. They're probably still not too happy with your team and Brett Hull's foot. :D I kid, I kid.

Exactly! First time in a long time D* actually has some leverage. What is more important to Comcast holding on to thier RSN's (with a loophole and politicians help I might add) or there so called up and coming (cough cough) Versus sports network.

Don't be fooled here...D* holds the cards on this one!

I had to call D* last night about a question about my bill. and the CSR was kinda being a snit...

and have answered my question, I then asked about Versus.. and was told the big lie, how Versus was "raising the price " and what ever, and then the csr really got snitty with me..

He said, YOU have some discounts because of this..

and I wasn't asking for anything.. nothing..

except to know if the channel is coming back on..

and I really got it in the chops..

hey thanks.. I don't need a snitty CSR.. and I wasn't being a jerk or anything..

I was , and stress , was in a great mood BEFORE THE PHONE CALL,, but not necessarily after wards..

You are correct... for Sabres fans that were around for that game, it will be a thorn in their side, until the day they die. I have to be optimistic and hopeful about the Sabres this year, since it appears there is no hope for the undisciplined Bills this season.

Remember, it's not a "lie", it's called a "spin".

DIRECTV wouldn't even go on the air. That speaks volumes!!!

It's kind of like my 5 year old boy. When I catch him in a lie, he runs to his room and shuts the door. I'm just waiting for the day when he says, I didn't lie, I just put my spin on the story.

You know it's bad when I'm seriously considering leaving DIRECTV. I'm to the point where I'm willing to lose a little of the HD quality in order to get my channels.

Right now, Versus and Travel Channel are crystal clear on DISH compared to DIRECTV. :bang:

I think you can attribute the CSR's reaction to Pavloff's theory. When you said the word VS, it triggered the defense mechanism in their brain.

Well, because subs who don't necessarily want sports shouldn't have to pay for them.

Ever walk out of a car dealership because they wanted you to have to pay an additional $3,500 for fog lights, chrome wheel covers, heated mirrors and a six-way seat when all you wanted were antilock brakes? That's exactly what both satellite services are perpetrating on subscribers by forcing them to pay for channels they don't want so they can have channels they do want.

If they're not going to offer a la carte viewing then why not cluster channels by subject area (sports, news, faith, kids), price the clusters reasonably and let subscribers choose which clusters they want?

What's your point? We all know the sun will rise, with or without TV. If losing channels does not bug you, why not cancel DIRECTV? The sun will still rise. :D:lol:

Try to keep an open mind. Perhaps DIRECTV are the "crooks". Even if you're right, Comcast is the crook, and they're trying to raise the rates. Why is it not OK for Comcast to raise rates, however it's OK for DIRECTV to raise our rates?

With all due respect to the Versus complaints....

We D* folks in Philly haven't EVER been able to see a local RSN. We're used to the trade-off, which for me is simple: NFLST versus having a local RSN.

This Versus stuff is nothing compared to that.

It looks like you'll need to make the same decision - Versus or NFLST.

    Personally, I choose NFLST.

How do we really know what happened between D* and VS ?

Couldn't D* have simply told VS - they could stay on the same tier but we don't think a 20% price increase is appropriate or we can give you the 20% increase in fees and move VS to the sports tier.

Those options explain what both sides have said in the press.
