That's a good deal, but I watched the Hawks/Bruins game on NHL CI last night. So I'm not sure why you couldn't see it locally.

I saw the Hawks on CSNHD last night and could see the Bruins NESNHD feed and I'm out of market. Was this game on Versus too?

yeah.. well its time that some one does something.. how come other places can come to terms.. this has been going on HOW LONG?

and I don't see any of the local directv heroes here saying.. that progress is being made.

and as for a "cooling off period".. how many months does it take to "get cool"?

and we have had a QUARTER OF A MILLION VIEWS..

obviously some one had better take note that this DOES CONCERN US VIEWERS..

I can't ever remember a thread with close to 250 THOUSAND VIEWS..

225,000 views .. 3,500 posts .. 540 unique posters .. Seems like an awful lot of refreshing by the same people. I wouldn't read too much into that "QUARTER OF A MILLION VIEWS" number.

In fact there are two threads in this very forum with over 200,000 views. Not to sound snarky, but probably 1,000 of those are me going into this thread to police it.

I love that the NHL is fully supporting not showing their own sport. Another great job by Gary.

Why would the NHL turn their back on the only broadcaster in the us willing to pay them to show their games.

I am sure that the owners want versus shown in as many homes as possible, but they cant hold a gun to comcast's head and tell them to lower the price or to directtv's head and to pay whatever comcast wants.

SCCA just announced the World Challenge series will be broadcast on Versus in 2010 (obviously, it's no longer the "Speed World Challenge".

Dakar Rally coverage this year is on Versus.

Thank goodness for the Internet and torrents. I'm amazed these two companies are fighting like schoolkids while the information media world passes them by. Maybe they should call the music industry for comforting? I still get my programming in HD and both Versus and DTV get nothing...

I think you're just wrong on this.

There is refreshing in all threads. Some silly little thread on international soccer might only have 100 posts and 1000 views, but it similarly would be a small amount of people posting, re-posting, and re-viewing to see the latest dialogue.

To dismiss the big numbers shown in the VS thread is beyond silly. Par-for-the-course, but silly nonetheless.

These numbers are only a snippet of the overall DIRECTV customer population. 1/4 million views on one small website states a lot. I bet less than 5% of the DIRECTV customers even know about DBSTALK.com. I love this site. I feel the data gathered on this site is a very good representation of the overall customer view.

    Peace out!

How many times do you visit this thread each day since it was opened :) .. I'm just saying it adds up quickly. There is absolutely no doubt that some number of people are very vocal about this .. I'm not even saying it's right or wrong .. That's just the way it is.

DBSTalk is probably the most definitive place on the Internet for DIRECTV stuff outside of DIRECTV itself. Folks that want to talk Versus will find this place.

The thread was started on 8/19/09 ~150 days ago .. That's ~1,500 page views per day .. Yeah, that's a lot, but I certainly wouldn't read too much into it. It's one person accessing the page 225,000 times or 225,000 people accessing it one time or something in between. Bottom line is your best numbers are the ratings numbers for the channel which simply were not stellar. Those that are staunch advocates of Versus are very vocal (rightfully so) but it doesn't mean that their numbers are bigger than they really are. That's kinda my point.

Can anyone clarify this whole Versus/DirecTV issue for me? First I read that Comcast wanted to charge D* a significantly higher rate for Versus than they charge Dish and Verizon. Then I dug a bit deeper and read that D* wanted to move Versus to the Sports Pack which has an additional cost. Comcast wasn't happy about that because Versus would lose veiwers due to fewer customers subscribing to the Sports Pack.

Is Comcast trying to charge D* more as a punitive measure for them trying to move Versus to a premium package? Or is D* trying to move Versus to a premium package to offset the added cost?

I'm guessing it's probably a bit of both. Comcast probably told D* they want Vs on the Choice plan at $X per subscriber. DirecTV said no, we want to put it in the sports pack. Comcast said if you put it in the sports pack we are going to charge you $Y (significantly higher than $X). DirecTV said no, Comcast took their ball and went home.

***This is all just a guess by me, I have no real knowledge on the matter***

I'm really just posting here since I read this thread all the time and I haven't posted so I didn't want to be artificially inflating or deflating the numbers depending on how you see it :)
