NBC uses more mikes for audio for one thing and the mix is better. Their entire production is better. Reports of supar PQ were almost constant during the playoffs. Soft picture and what almost looked liked edge enhancement at times.

BTW...the same guy who mixes the audio for NBC hockey games also does Sunday Night Football and won an Emmy. If you're on AVS during a game and notice an issue...he will get fixed on the fly.

This kind of problem may be caused by various conversion steps (including those of DIRECTV) as opposed to something inherent in the production system.

I agree. The Penguins and Caps series was a pixilated mess. I guessed at the time that Comcast was using MPEG 2 on the uplink and it was over compressed. I was watching the reruns on NHL network and there is no pixilation. I blame Comcast trying to save money on Sat transport.

You didn't answer the question, who would be the sports leader then? And no, not everyone has MLB Extra Innings. Uverse for example.

Mega March Madness? Anyone else have it? There are some DMAs that have it as part of multicasting, but over 175 DMAs don't have it unless you have DIRECTV. And yes, we all know about online, I'm talking television.

Simply put, no one has more sports than DIRECTV, with our without VS. Period.

You're entitled to your own opinions but you're not entitled to your own facts.

No, it was reported by numerous viewers using different providers. Its a Versus issue.

I watched Versus mainly for the Tour De France in July and the Track and Field World Championships last month from Berlin (Usain Bolt, etc.). The T&F coverage was shared with NBC (NBC doing the weekends) while Versus had it on every night (including weekends). But the combined Versus-NBC presentation wasn't very good, but it was the only way on my dish I could even see the events. Obviously the NHL playoffs were essential too.

I realize that, but the point was you didn't add those viewers into the equation.

Many sports bars have in addition to D*, cable and/or C-Band satellite for these exact reasons. But D* still offers the most sports by far, with or without Versus. Since you've proclaimed D* the (former) sports leader, please tell me whose service I should pick up instead. Do they have all the league passes (including the NFL), most of the RSNs and special channels for high-profile tournaments (Masters, US Open, etc.)? Oh, and almost entirely available in HD? Who? Please let me know so I can make the switch.

Right, but how does that make me satisfied with my DirecTV service?

Being able to stay at home and watch games through the DirecTV service that I pay for = Satisfied DirecTV customer

Having to go to sports bars to watch games because they are not included with the DirecTV service that I pay for = Not satisfied with my DirecTV service

Yeah I didn't pay all this money for a HDTV and D* service so I can go hang out with a bunch of obnoxious drunks at a bar with HDTV's that are hooked up to basic cable or sit there and watch a game on my 15 inch computer monitor. Give us Versus back!

I called DirecTV to complain about loosing Versus... mostly the hockey games. They told me that I should buy NHL Center Ice for $160 instead and that Versus will not be returning to DirecTV (keep in mind that this is a CSR). I said they should give it to me for free.

Bottom line is that they said they can't give Center Ice away for free, but they did offer it to me for $1. I said OK, but it doesn't yet show on my account. I'll give it a few days before I call back.

Wow! I don't care much for the NHL but I'd pay $1 to have all the games... :)

Umm, wow. I wouldn't count on seeing it. Sounds like someone who has another job lined up and is just screwing with customers on their last day.

I just sent them an email about dropping Versus. I got a response back within 5 minutes that was basically "sorry but you can still watch sports on all these other channels". The only thing I will loose is the occasional Hockey Game. I did not ask for anything, just adding my voice to the chorus.

I called and canceled my HBO yesterday solely because of the loss of Versus. I still want SPEED so I didn't drop the whole service but I did also tell the CSR that I'll be doing that soon. I don't care who's fault it is, take a channel from me and I take revenue from you. Wonder if Dish can use my current wiring?
