since money is already paid for, TV contracts are banked in someone's pockets --> the only thing the NCAA cares about is making sure EA doesnt put player names on the jerseys in their video games. As they'd make sure EA paid them for that! If money is already paid for they're laughing thier a$$es to the bank that we cannot see a few marquee games which turned out to have merit.

Dispute or not I have wanted the NHL off Versus for quite some time TNT goes out of their way to cover the NBA playoffs something Versus doesnt.

I really hate Versus & DTV right now.

I believe that's why the Universal Sports Channel/604 was added.

well I'm sure were all hoping that somebody else will pick up coverage of NHL when the contract expires between Versus and NHL or w/e,maybe ESPN again or something.

As long as the NCAA get their money from Versus, I don't think they give a hoot if just one person watched it. This issue is the upset college fans that are not seeing the game. Versus is sure spending a lot of money to get DirecTV back, buying all kinds of ads to broadcast that DirecTV doesn't carry Versus any more. They will probably spend more money for the ads then if DirecTV would pay them the extra money they are asking.

I for one, could care less about college football, but sure hope they get it back before the NHL starts.

I have no problem with them adjusting my bill if they add a channel I requested. Versus was a channel I watched now its gone with no compensation and even though I consider this a breach of contract, I can't get out of my commitment because there customer agreement says they can add or remove channels at will. 19 months and counting before I can dump this piece of garbage company.

No, wasn't it on Choice Xtra before it was taken off? I am positive it wasn't on Choice. Am I wrong?

Directv has updated most of its channel charts, but this link from a vendor shows it clearly in Choice Xtra and not in Choice: http://www.directsattv.com/directv/all_channels.html

So asking that it be put in Choice Xtra isn't going to solve the issue because that is where it was.

It was grandfathered in Total Choice and it was available in Choice Xtra.

OK; I guess that can make up a good chunk of fans.

But since college football hasn't gotten the parties together I am confident that the NHL season won't either. There are many more college football fans then there are hockey fans. And since ESPN walked away from the NHL there clearly is not enough fan base sway Directv to pay more.....so the sports leader has customers shut out and with a chunk locked into contracts for quite some time. Goodbye Versus.

I'm not talking about channels you requested, and I'm not talking about things you have "no problem" with. I'm talking about what is actually done by every TV provider in the country.

I checked the Dish website and saw that they still list VERSUS. How come Dish can provide VERSUS to their subscribers and DirecTV cannot? I apologise for maybe not being up to speed on this issue, but I got to checking programming schedules for my beloved Hockey spot' upcoming season and it appears that DirecTV Hockey Fans are being screwed again this season?

Dish is willing to pay the rate Versus charges and DirecTV is not.

Or maybe they haven't gotten to the end of a contract yet for a renegotiation?

Not entirely true. Dish went through this a couple of years ago and it lasted until play offs. At that point they got almost the same amount they were paying prior to without much of an increase.

True, and when their contract is up who knows what C* will ask for.

Correct, but do we know how much E* is paying C* for Versus right now?

The thing many people keep overlooking is Comcast has a history of tough and often unreasonable negotiations. They figure the longer they hold out, the more customers they can drive its cable (since they are also a provider, not an independent network owner that needs D* to survive). If Versus truly wanted to still be on D*, they would have taken them up on their offer to keep the channel up during negotiations. Perhaps they will fold on the eve of the NHL playoffs as they will figure they to have gotten as many customers to switch providers as they are going to. But at some point they will have to get back onto D*, or they will lose out on future contracts with the leagues.

I'm sure you could dig through the old threads and find the news articles with the price, or speculated price, I think it was a couple pennies and they moved it up a tier. However with that said I didn't really follow it so I could be recalling something different.

It is true...at the present time Dish is offering Versus and presumbably paying their bills. DirecTV is not offering Versus because they don't believe it is worth what is being asked. What isn't true about that?

According to Versus they are offering DirecTV the same fee that they charge everyone else.
