    -Comments:
About 17 minutes in the video and audio both skip ahead about 1 or 2 seconds. Also occurs at about 20 minutes in. Trickplaying back to the exact same spot in the recording duplicates the issue. It's pretty much the same exact hiccup issue I have reported previously, mostly occuring with "The Daily Show" and "Colbert Report".

    -Comments:
Using new application 3926 and old firmware 0x1216.

Started playback of recording, played normally for about 4 minutes until the shows opening credits started. Decided to use the 30 second skip button to pass through it. With SD recordings the 30 second skip works pretty well, shows frames as it is skipping by and recovers fairly quickly. With HD recordings no frames display during the skip, just a black screen and it takes about 2 or 3 seconds for it to recover before playing video again. After trying the skip 2 or 3 times I decided to use the progress bar to just skip ahead to a time index about 3 or 4 minutes ahead of where I currently was and that's when the recording just stopped completely and the application went back to the menus. No error message was displayed.

Update: Went back to the same recording again and tried using FFWD (just 1x) and it FFWDs displaying no frames at all, just a black screen like it does with 30 second skip. Video and audio come back again after going back to normal playback. Playback was in stereo, not 5.1 (still unclear if 5.1 is supported).

-Comments: Locking up at different points while watching. CPU utilization is about mid 20s. Moving around in trickplay will get it going again but then it'll lock up. Audio continues to stream while locked up.

That's word for word from the last build. Same issues seem to remain. I think I'm going to try different recordings (newer recordings from HDNet) and see if the issue carries over.

    **Update**
Went back to this recording. Jumped to the spot where it crashed the machine last time. Play back was doing great. Not one audio or video skip. Trick play even did good thru the first commercial break. Next commercial break it used trick play, think I stacked a couple, and it froze up on me and said that it diconnected from the server.

    ** Further Update **

Same recording. Video and Audio doing Awesome. Trick Played thru a couple commercial breaks just fine. Even stacking a couple 30 sec skips working just great. Godd to last commercial break and stacked a couple 30 sec skips and it just lost connection to the server.

Also noticed that while VDTV was running I was unable to access the internet.

    -Comments:
Same skipping issue I have seen previously. About 4 minutes into the recording it skips the video and audio ahead a few seconds and then resumes playback as normal. Just like the other occurrences of this with different recordings, I am able to trickplay back to the same spot and it skips at that point every single time. Plays fine on the HR20, no skipping at all.

Edit: Happened again at 9 minutes in... and 12 minutes... and 17 minutes... and 20 minutes... and 22 minutes... and 25 minutes... and 28 minutes. I was trickplaying through the commercials, so I'm sure I missed a skip or two.

I also notice strange visual artifacts on the top 1 or 2 horizontal lines, doesn't match up with the lines below. It is more noticeable on full screen. I have seen this before, but have forgotten to report it earlier.

All in all, not bad. Had a few freezes that lasted a second or so but it totalled maybe 4 or 5 max during the entire movie.

    -Comments:
BSG was outputting in 5.1 surround sound (yay), but I noticed a problem with the audio channels. The center channel and the front left and right channels seem to be swapped. Dialogue was coming out of my front left and right speakers, sound effects from the center channel and rear channels. I ran downstairs to my HR20 and pumped up my surround system and dialogue is coming out of the center channel there as expected. Looks like the audio channel assignments are swapped.

Edit: I just double checked my speaker setup on the computer, ran the 5.1 channel test and audio is coming out of the correct speakers, so this is not a mixed up cabling or sound card setup issue. This channel swap is definitely happening within the application.

HD-MPEG2 (but only 4:3 with the weather bug in the corner) - 25-1 OTA FOX KOKH - New Amsterdam 4/7 8:00pm
    Yes - Plays on DVR:
    Other DVR streams: None
    Normal playback results: Excellent.

Trickplay results: All worked but used carefully. Some of the 30-second slips were a little rough.

    Desktop Configuration

Comment: Used wireless N connection to the desktop. I was quite surprised that the server stayed connected for the whole time. My typical experience with both the desktop and laptop has been that the server disconnects after 5 minutes requiring a reboot. Then I'm left wondering if the problem is due to Vista, the HR20, or TrendMicro Security software.

    Yes - Plays on DVR:

Normal playback results: Excellent until the server disconnected.

Trickplay results: Progress bar seeks were OK. First 30-second slip caused the server to disconnect.

    Desktop Configuration

Comment: Used wireless N connection to the desktop. Didn't get the usual pausing video on the OTA MPEG2 playback. Wonder if the neighbor's wireless is interfering with mine sometimes?

    dettxw,
I'm getting the same thing when I use trickplay. And I'm hardwired, with XP and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. If I baby trickplay(ie not stacking slips) most times it will play nice. I have had occassion where it has disconnected when only pressing 1 slip also. And when I go to reboot the HR20 it is in various states as well. Sometimes it is completely locked and I have to RBR other it is still working fine and can reboot via the menu.

Just adding more pieces to the puzzle.

While I'm not glad that you're having problems it is helpful to know that a hard-wired XP configuration also experiences the server disconnects that show up on a Vista & wireless setup.

I'll not spend a lot of time troubleshooting Vista and the wireless connection until the problem is addressed with a new HR20 and/or PC version.

Is there a chance that wireless DVRs won't be supported or am I the only one seeing these kind of issues?
