I would not expect the wireless portion to work after a reset. By default the wireless is not enabled. The router would need to be reprogramed via a hardwire connection. That is when you cna re-enable the wireless portion of the router.

Try doing a menu reset on the HR20 and see if that helps. If not restart the PC's to see if that helps.

Twonky was the only thing that worked on mine. I tried WMP11, TVersity, & Nero.

I just tried using the new Microsoft Windows Server RC1 with my HR-20s, and it displayed both pictures and music without any problems.

I will also recommend the MS Windows Server, as I have been using it (beta) for about 4 months backing up 5 computers and sharing music and pictures to other computers with no problems

Try increasing the Streaming Buffer Size in Twonky. This fixed my stuttering problems .

With 17e software, all songs (music) using Twonky now show a "x". the songs are all mp3 -- any quick fix? Using WMP the songs are ok.

    Help please.

The lame add on for Twonky must be installed before the music files are playable.

For audio to work, Twonky provides addons: http://www.twonkyvision.de/Download/Add-ons/index.html

The LAME addons are zipped up and need to be installed in the c:/program filse/twonky/cgi-bin directory for audio files to be read in the LPCM format. Install them and restart the server.

Someone else commented that they had to re-install Twonky.

    Thanks for the update.

    Greetings,

I've been reading this thread and others and it looks to me like networking the HR20 to your PC only allows the HR20 to access content on the PC.

I want to be able to transfer recorded content from my HR20 to my PC or ideally to another HR20. Is this possible...?

I'll give some background. The HR20-700 that I bought in February of 2007 has always had this irritating habit of dropping the audio for 10-15 seconds at a time 3-4 times an hour. It may only happen on local channels, I can't be sure.

Anyway, I complained during the warranty period and they sent out a tech. He said that there were "issues" with the 700 model. Go figure...

I kept calling once a month or so to see if they had a fix for the dropped audio problem yet. Last week they finally agreed to send me a replacement unit. Well, it turned out to be a HR20-100 refurbished unit.

This unit has "issues" of it's own. The HDMI feed does not work. The only feed that works is the red/white/yellow cables via my DVD recorder. After an hour on the phone with D* they agreed to send out another tech. to diagnose the problem and he'll have another 100 unit with him... I think the refurb unit is defective.

So, I wanted to try to get some of our recordings off of the 700 unit before I have to send it back to the mother ship...

Is there any way to accomplish this besides recording to dvd...?

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. There isn't a way to pull recordings from the HR20 yet.

Just got my HR20. Tried the media share, using WinXp and WM11.

Worked fine for playing slide show with Music, except that I can't figure out how to quit! Tried tuning back to playlist--I can play recorded stuff, but music keeps getting streamed from PC.

Best I've been able to do is to get a hang. Then I have to reboot the HR20.

I'll admit I haven't read all 30 pages of the forum, so if this has been discussed previously, sorry.

Is this supposed to work yet? Do I need something like Twonky, or is WM11 ok.

Is there something, somewhere that defines what I should expect to work at this point?

    Thanks,

    Dave Thomas

What version of software are you using? I'm assuming 0x17E.

Not trying to be a wisenheimer, have you tried the stop button? That's what I use and it always worked.

Media Share is working for Viiv (Supported by DIRECTV), Twonky, WMP11, TVersity, and EyeConnect. There are tons of good threads here with help for each flavor.

    And by the way, :welcome_s

    Doh! The Stop button.

That's all I needed. Seems to work fine now, though all I've done is play slideshow with Music.

Software version is 0x17e. Will I automatically get updates over the network now? (I have internet connection). I'm assuming I no longer need phone connection.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Downloads always come via the satellite. You'll need your phoneline still for ordering PPVs with your remote or with sports packages (although most folks don't use the phoneline at all).
