I only need one receiver. Does it make sense to get the 211k and add a EHD and pay the one time dvr fee or get the 612 and pay the monthly fee. Will there be a difference in the on screen interface with the EHD. Also to get my locals, I will install an antenna. Does Dish charge a fee to integrate them into their guide? Am I not asking the right questions or overlooked something? Thanks.

Is it going to be your one & ONLY receiver, or are you looking to add 1 additional receiver?

The difference functionally between the 211 with EHD and the 612 is:

    1. The 612 is capable of streaming internet video.
    2. The 612 has a second satellite tuner so you can record two satellite programs plus one OTA channel at the same time.
    3. The 211 has no DVR $6 monthly fee and as a second+ receiver it is $7 per month.
    4. The 612 has a monthly $6 DVR fee plus if it is second+ receiver on your account it also has a $10 monthly fee.
    5. Both can have a EHD attached, the 211 costs one time $40 and the 612 is free - new limit for all is now 2TB.

I have a 722k and 3 211's - the on screen menus are nearly identical.

That is all I can come up with off the top of my head... anyone else?

I would go with 211 (not the "k").

Jim5506, did you got official word about that 2 TB limit ? Or referencing to my posts ?

Should I have any concerns about OTA channels appearing on their guide or charges for the ability?

The OTA channels will appear, no charge to get them (just need to connect the OTA and SCAN them in, and you will receive locals over satellite as well).

For the EHD, officially we still only support up to 1TB for the 211/211k receiver

I did see that earlier, I also sent an email asking of the EHD size limit has been changed (officially). For now, I do have to go by what our information shows

My vote, not that I really have one ;), would be the 612 for the dual tuners. I frequently record multiple shows at the same time.

211 is dual (as 211k) box - you can record 1 OTA and 1 Sat channel

I didn't see that the 211k received the software update for a 2TB limit, which is the main reason I sent the email (a lot of notes to go through)

That would be easy to check by our members.

Anyone with 211k and 2 TB or 1.5 TB drive out there ?

211k is also a dual tuner receiver as it has the same number of tuners as the 211 (I have both).

It does not have capability for the dual tuner module like the 222k and 722k have.

I was referring to the ability to record two satellite channels at one time. Or to be able to record one satellite channel while watching a different one.
