    Stupid question - could the "Business Version" be in play? For example, Home Standard vs Home Premium would make a HUGE difference here (i.e. one has media center, one doesn't)

    Absolutely NOT a 'stupid' question. In fact, I've been waiting on this thread for someone to ask, what is to me, the obvious.

    Vista Business Edition DOES NOT support or have ANYTHING dealing with 'Windows Media Center'. In fact, it specifically DOES NOT have the bits to do it, UNLIKE Home Premium or Ultimate.

    A simple search of the Microsoft web site would have brought this out:

    Period. With the 'Vista Business Edition' you haven't got a chance.

    enterprise license versions are the same. kind of screwed if you need domain access and media center without ultimate.
