Watch recordings on deactivated box

    Can previously recorded shows be watch after a box is deactivated?

    At least for a time if the box is disconnected from coax first.

    I've had my disconnect HR34 running for almost 2 months now to finish a series I recorded. I unplugged the coax (no reason to keep it in).

    As noted, you MUST disconnect the coax before having the unit deactivated. If you deactivate first, DirecTV sends a command to the box shutting it down, and you can't watch any recordings. I would also disconnect ethernet (if it is connected). From that point on, people have experienced varying amounts of time where they were able to watch recordings, ranging from a few days to a few months.
