During Weather Channel “Local On The 8s breaks”, current conditions , the local forecast, and regional radar designed by zip code, are by default, available to be inserted by DirecTv into the break, replacing the generic national forecast provided to satellite providers. The problem is that local cut ins seem to be triggered infrequently during “Local On The 8s” forecast breaks. I can watch The Weather Channel for days without ever seeing a local forecast insert. It doesn’t matter whether I am watching the Weather Channel for 15 minutes or for an hour. The result is usually the same. What prompted the inquiry was that the local forecast insert was actually triggered last night during a “Local On The 8s” break for the first time in memory, to where I was startled to see it. I have been watching The Weather Channel frequently over the last 18 hours, and predictably, the local weather insert has yet to trigger again in a “Local On The 8s” break all day. My local forecast is available anytime via the red button option. Is it normal for the local forecast to rarely trigger and display during the break? If the local inserts trigger this infrequently, why are they even provided?
