You do not have to have an AM-21. I'm sure we'll have support for AM-21 but you can test other things if you want, you don't have to test that.

Basically, this is a major revision to the H21 software to bring it in line with the H21-200 and HR2x series. I'm asking you to test everything about it.

    I'm ready to test!
Anybody know when the Sonos fix will be ready to roll out to test? I have Sonos equipment on my network and based on other posts MRV is not playing nice with Sonos at this point. See my thread here - http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=147171

Welcome to all the -100 crew, from the -200 testers who as you can see have been around here for quite a while.
You will see from some of the -200 posts that the field trials software for the -200 is based on the HR2x DVR software and isn't based on the older H2x receiver software. I expect the same thing will apply to the field trials software for the -100 when you get it pushed to you. That means there are lots of differences (some obvious, some not). So you need to test everything, not just MRV (and the AM21 if you have one)..

Yep happy to join the party. Looks like fun in store!

Was using the H21 the other day and turned it to Holiday Traditions and had forgotten that I was on the H21 and saw the old background on the XM channel and laughed to myself. That and not having the screen saver with the name info stuff through me off. Can't wait!

Also, I think I have the cable connected to the back .... is that that single black wire coming from the wall jack..... :hurah: :sure:

The 3-4 CE versions for the -200 have been a big "step backwards" from the field testing versions, at least for me.
MRV "could be" a nice feature, but for the "normal" functions of my receiver, I wish I could have the last field test version back.
[IMO] MRV needs to go back into the lab and be rewitten before the next "attempt", as it's fundamental fuction, streaming over the network, doesn't work as well as DirecTV2PC does, along with the rest of the "new bugs" that haven't been addressed in the releases.

"I've been wanting to vent" about this [for some time], but haven't been able to "explain" about how bad the CE is compared to how good the field test version is/was.

This CE version for the -200 is working better for me then the prior. Whatever was causing an unable to access media on the quarter hour hasn't raised it's head so far in testing. I do agree that it still has a away to go, error reporting still not working which IMHO should be a priority so the folks slaving over the code and get more info on what we're seeing.

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread and if so maybe a mod want to split this out.

I heard that DirecTV is wanting to get a national release out. This could be due to the Feb DTV date and having OTA options for the receivers.

I would base the new release off this version, verses the CE, as it has been much more solid than what I've seen with the CE.

The CE has a format bug with SD, the streaming still has intermittent video/audio breakups that are not network [hard wired] caused as DirecTV2PC works fine [for me] and if you replay the breakup point, it isn't there on the replay. Then there is the lack of playlist updating without changing servers. Imagine a customer with only one DVR. This would cause them to be using the reset to simply be able to watch a recording that started after they first log into the DVR. I pressed playlist a few days back and had several recordings listed, that I'd deleted days before. Add to this the times that I have needed to reset the receiver as its gone off to "never never land".
Twice now I've tried to use the menu reset and gotten all the way to the "-" point, where it simply wouldn't go any farther. I could back out of this screen & come back to it, but it would never complete the task, which meant using the red button.

I have respect for code writers, as I've worked with some and can't do it myself.
With that said, at the rate of "improvements" with the releases so far, the MRV features could be six months out before they're working at a level a "normal customer" would want.

I can't mention any specifics, but in one of the field trials I was involved in on this site, I thought the exact same thing. Then, a software download came that simply fixed everything. All at once. So while it seems like they're moving at a really slow pace, it's possible that there are fixes that are in process that they haven't been able to incorporate yet. And once they do, it'll just start working.

I also so "one" push fix many issues at one time. That's said I hope when the push comes its very stable. I have my H21 ready to go. Also my AM21 if it is supported is ready to be tested too. 'Now where did I put that inddoor antenna again

I do agree with VOS on many of his comments but it appears to me that there was a fairly basic change when the "DHCP" function was added. The early parts of the test release had gone pretty clean (few problems with the AM21) but when the DHCP code (which was timed with the move to CE) was added we picked up Network Services, Widgets, DHCP, etc. and it has reacted like they did something like change the code base or something along those lines. Many things that were working stopped working and it has been a struggle. MVR doesn't work as well as it did before and we have had a sequence of "networking" issues. I have heard others speculate that the code base on the H21 (particularly the -100) was developed outhouse and this may be the issue. Phase 1 of the conversion went well but Phase 2 fell off the truck.

I don't know why many people seem to think that much of this is related to the Feb 2009 transition to "digital broadcasting" and this is some trigger for some of these changes. In my mind, there doesn't seem to be any correlation but this is just my view.

    Happy Holidays
