How can you get to it unless you have access?
Edit: I cleared my cache and cookies to see where the link took me. I couldn't get in. Lucky guess?
I've already put in a call to Tony Soprano...
I have a feeling and wondering if it is possible that he was doing a google search for the HR21 and found a link to DBStalk.
It has to be something like that because from his post I guess he had the link but could not actually link to it, otherwise there would have been more info in his post...
We're safe. He's speculating and stumbled across the forum id # by simply incrementing the basic forum link url:
This is the url to the H21 forum, which isn't so public: http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=128
HR21 is just 1 up: f=129
People do it all the time to see if there are additional hidden forums that they can or cannot access. As long as the forum permissions are properly set, and I have no reason to suspect that they are not, this is the only way to get a link to the forum directory itself.
Notice he say's he thinks we're discussing the HR21
Heh, it sounds like the villagers are readying the torches and pitchforks . . .
I wonder if google could even find it since you need to be a member for all CE forums.
I don't know but could it have been under top level of the list of forums/Cutting Edge?
Tony Soprano called back...he said "fugget about it"...he'll take care of it...
I was. I noticed he was in St. Louis. I could have been hdtvfan0001's Tony Soprano and caught a Cards game in the same trip.
If I may also recommend, we should probably not post in that thread. The hint of a lot of regulars from the CE ranks might only fuel the fire.
Google can't find it. Even if google were able to back track based on url referral info if you were to visit a google site from a link to this forum, the best you would get would be a link to the thread that results in an error message:
There is no indication of the forum name on that page, all they know is there's a restricted forum for an unknown purpose.
Google couldn't discover the name of the forum or the link to the HR21 forum index page.
The guy got lucky snooping by changing the forum id number from a valid link (H21 where the forum id is ?f=128 and he tried ?f=129 but got a nondescript no permission message.
We're a feisty bunch, aren't we...
That's what makes for good testers....perseverance.
It is a new stadium.....
OK...I'll tell Tony you've got it covered.
Gotta run to church....that's another CE tester requirement....the ability to pray.
Exactly! This forum is completely private. It's the same way we had our private moderator forum hidden.
Like the answer I gave him? It's not a lie but yet not a denial.
Excellent suggestion. Too bad I already posted over there.
Leave it to the H21 testers to run interference.
Thats the trick.. don't lie but don't give any info either
Be interesting to know what IP address DR_LaRRY_PEpPeR uses. Think the Mod's can do that.
Account was opened 7-04-07. Then compare his IP address to other accounts.
My guess is that he didn't guess. He said "I want to see the HR21 forum" so he was fairly certain what it was. He knows way too much information.
The investigation begins
Remind me before we open this forum to the public to change the forum ID just so later on he can't come back and say "Told you so". (seriously, remind me please).
