What are the Network Services used for and are they required for MRV

Sorry for the simple question here. I just got a second HD DVR and while setting it up I noticed that there is a Network Services setting which I have to set my firewall up for in order for a successful connection. I have done this, but I have no idea what the Network Services do and I would rather not open the firewall if I don't have to. I thought that this was somehow related to the MRV feature, but I do not see the other DVR. I am on firmware 0x368.

So, can anyone help me out with my two issues:
    1) What are the Network Services for and why do I have to open my firewall up for them? (Obviously they want inbound connections to be active which scares me a bit.)

    2) How do I get MRV to work with version 0x368?

    Thanks for your help!

    1. Network services aren't suppose to do anything yet, though when they work here, the TVApps work and when they don't neither do TVApps.
    2. 0x368 doesn't have MRV in the code, so you're out of luck

MRV! . Any time now. Within the next few years. Just a dream. No point even discussing it any longer.
