Please note that these are the 61 named promised channels. The commitment is for 70 channels in September with a total of 100 by the end of 2007. 150 total are promised by the end of 2008.

The D10 satellite is up. All reports are that everything has gone very well on all checks. People are reporting occassional 90%+ activity on normally zero level 103 transponders.

We have heard September 9, Sept 10, and Sept 17 as the GO dates.

The D11 launch date has been moved up to December from "early in 2008".

    All systems are go!

Then check out some of the shows that are out now, plus old ones from 50 years ago.

Most of the anime and much of the prime time action cartoons are letterboxed. Most of them are film based and the CGI is usually done at a 2k+ resolution, so there is plenty of detail there.

All of the Warner Brothers and Hanna-Barbera stuff that is pre 1970's is all film based. I have seen the Pink Panther on Animania from Voom and it is amazing the level of detail you have never seen in there. Brush strokes and line details that were not visible previously.

I am not saying that everything deserves the HD conversion. But animation is just as valid a need as MTV and ESPN.

One channel I haven't seen mentioned that I would like to see is the Travel Channel in HD. I think it would help to see the locations in HD.
