hat should Ion do with the main Ion channel? Apart from a few Canadian shows like Saving Hope and Private Eyes to be broadcast next year all it shows is repeats of US crime series all day. They tried original programming before but it didn't really work out. Why don't they try some original factual type programming to differ themselves from the other main networks or acquire more Canadian content? Will they be airing these same few shows in 5+ years. Why did the Cloo channel shut down when Ion airs a lot of the same crime shows?
    CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2018)
    Blue Bloods (2014)
    Burn Notice (2013)
    Criminal Minds (2009)
    Law & Order (2015)
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2012)
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2015)
    NCIS: Los Angeles (2017)
    Saving Hope (2014)
    Psych (2011)
CSI seems to have replaced Numbers.

Reality is that there just is not a huge market for a sixth OTA network, and the increasing number of "diginet" side channels make this more true every day. The entire target audience here is a niche. The niche are what I will call TRUE cord cutters. Which is not the vaunted trendy people who pay almost just as much for a variety of internet based content. But rather people (AKA poor people) who are happy to slap up an antenna and get 15-25 channels, including Ion's mediocre efforts, and pocket the savings.

If you are not in this fairly tiny niche, then forget about Ion and change the channel.

An article relating to Ion. They talk about acquiring 'A' quality syndicated shows and having morecently original content. They also state about building additional networks. What type of new networks could they create? Would these be on cable/OTA? It would be good if they created high quality factual type shows a difference from the drama/reality/comedy on CBS/ABC/NBC/Fox/The CW.

Canadian content would be fantastic. Canada has some good shows that never make it south of the boarder, unlike the other direction.
Add CBC's The National. You get just as much US news plus what's happening in Canada that the US media ignores.

In the early days of DirecTV, it had the original version of Trio, which showed Canadian dramas, mostly from the CBC, and Newsworld International which was an only slightly less Canadian version of CBC Newsworld.

I liked both, but Trio changed formats into a low rent version of USA Network when the CBC sold it, failed and became the Sleuth then Cloo, and then shut down. Newsworld International became the algore channel and then the aljazerra channel and then shut down too.

We have a BBC-America, so how about becoming a CBC-America?

Yea! BBC America would be a great channel if it actually showed BBC programming as seen in the UK.
