For those of you that are worried about the $399 price go ahead and stop worrying. D* just called me and apologized for the $399 mix up and told me that since I have a leased HR10 they will and should be swapping it out for a leased HR20 free of charge. I just looked at my account and the work order reflects this. So in short it looks like D* will live up to their promise of swapping out the HR10 for the HR20 free of charge. Now if you own your HR10 then you will have to pay $399 to get a HR20 if you want to keep your HR10.
Since I don't have an official release or details on the pricing... I want to keep them all semi-contained.
So if you have talked to a CSR (or someone else), and have received an order confirmation ect...... let us know the details, so we can follow the trends..
However... I am treating this thread as a special thread.
I am going to reserve the right for this thread to close it and/or delete it... If I am asked to by DirecTV... (hopefully to be replaced by official information)
actually the H20 can also be swapped from what I was told but the R15 cannot. Only HD units can be swapped free of charge for the HR20. So if you have either the HR10 or H20 it shouldnt be a problem and I'd imagine if you were really old school and had an E86 you could swap that too

I have never had a prior DVR so this is a new unit to me. No trade in.
Ok, some may have seen my first report this morning. I called and they gave me the standard price. Thinking I may wait. I told them not now.
So I figured I would call Cust retention. First call the lady was very unhelpfull and insisted that I did not know what I was talking about on the HR20.
Ok, thank you for your help and back to CSR roulette. The second lady I talked to had the same initial response. I politely persisted and she checked (2 times) and came back with Yes it is available to you. Now I was ready for the high lease cost, but this lady came back with the $19.95 plus tax and when would you like it to be installed.
Sign me up.. Friday afternoon I am scheduled to receive my HR20... We will see if Ironwood can make it to this one... But that is another story...
Im curious about what will happen on Sunday. The work order simply says swap DVR so I wonder if I can keep my HR10 and give up one of my old DVR units and yes another 2 year commitment but I could care less since I dont plan on going anywhere
I have an HR10 HD receiver that I purchased in December.
I just called, and ordered an HR20, and was given it for free, no questions asked.
I was charged $21.40 shipping, and offered an install date of FRIDAY.
Following previous posts, I called and confirmed.
They are going to install a new HD20.
They are going to replace my dish (phase 3 to phase 5).
They are not going to replace my existing HD10.
I also got:
2 year commitment from install date (oh well)
$20 off for 6 months
$10 free HD programming for 4 months
They also stressed that this is a leased unit, but that it was covered by their warranty for as long as I was a customer.
Since I didn't pay for the box, this is fine with me.
I tried getting an OTA antenna as well, but was told that this was not an option on their order page.
