What to do with a HD DVR receiver even though I cancelled my order?

Never had to ship anything through the Post Office, always use FedEx. When I've had stuff shipped to me via USPS I've found their tracking numbers to be completely useless. FedEx and UPS tracking is VERY reliable.

Agreed, but in some parts of the country (including here in New England), if you want DirecTV to pay for shipping returned equipment, you have no choice but to use USPS. For some time now, DirecTV has used a hybrid return process here. The recovery kit is first dropped off at a Post Office, and it is then shipped by USPS to a FedEx or UPS facility, and then via FedEx or UPS on to DirecTV. My experience has been that USPS will not provide a receipt to show that the package was handed over to them, and it is not possible to track the package while it is in the custody of USPS. Tracking information only becomes available once the package has been introduced into the FedEx or UPS system. If the package gets lost by USPS, you as a DirecTV customer are SOL.

I got a USPS drop off receipt. When I asked the USPS Lady to scan it and give me a receipt she said she couldn't ... I told her to try and it worked fine. Package instantly showed up in USPS tracking but nowhere else. I tried UPS and Fedex and used all the different numbers on the label.

    USPS Tracking #420569509158901003538016104666

Other Tracking Number on label: (9611918) 988816616104662

It seems to be in limbo for a week.

Edit: I figured it out! The red highlighted part of the USPS tracking number is also the FEDEX tracking number. On the bottom of the label there is a couple bar codes of them marked "TRK" and that was it. Package scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

Hopefully this might help someone out.

Good to know. When I dropped mine off at the Post Office, the counter clerk said that he couldn't give me receipt and there was no way to track it with USPS.
