Now this is strange. I watched the entire race on 206 last night and not one time did the picture freeze, stutter or hang-up. Yes, the video was not great, a lot of graininess, but there was no freezing.

I couldn't watch 206 for more than 5 minutes without having video freeze up while audio was fine.

Lots of nice glitchy freezeups during the UCLA-Tenn pre game special. Im sure the game will be lovely.

On another note, Im finding it really hard to believe those that claim they dont see the ESPN problems on D*. Not that I think theyre lying, its not that at all. I just dont think those people are very observant:) Ive seen it on more D* setups than just my own.

Its very easy to see. Just watch the bottom line scrol across and you will see it stutter often.

I often see this same thing on 607 SPDHD while watching motorcycle racing. The camera will follow a rider into a corner, and at the apex, the picture will freeze for a second or less, then pick up again. Quite consistent, very annoying.

Confirming same here on channel 607.
ESPN has had the freezing since I got my HR21's about 2 months ago, so this is not something new. I guess I will complain when channel 73 is removed.

    Dripping...
What I've noticed is that when I get the video freeze I can backspace on the DVR and the video freeze is NOT there, the video plays thought without the freeze.

Interesting, never thought of trying that..I wonder if any of the more technically advanced around here might know what that indicates, if anything.

Just got off the phone with DirecTV. They said that since DirecTV moved a number of channels (including ESPNHD & ESPN2HD) from the 103 to the 99 satellite (back in late July) and people who are affected will need their dish re-aligned.

Funny, my ESPN signals have been much improved since D* moved the HD channels from 103 to 99... but USAHD today (US Open tennis) was very spotty.

That makes absolutely no sense... I'm only having problems on ESPN and ESPN2, not any of the others that were moved.

IIRC the glitch happened in the same turn on the race track, and if I am correct then the signal strength has nothing to do with it. There is no way the satellite signal drops at the same spot on the track each and every time, over and over and over....

Last time I heard this, the program I watched was flawless for myself and almost everyone else who responded. Could you be more specific about what program is junk and the nature and frequency of the problem?

    +1 here

Freezing usually around the 4th turn of the track, I believe. I have tried the skip back that someone had posted as to solving their problem. And initially when I skipped back there was just a tiny pause in the video. I continued to view the tiny pauses then it went to the freezing again. Upon skipping back the freeze was still there.

harsh - MPEG2 feed, channel 73 does not have this problem, please verify you are on HD channel 206. Also what model receiver are you watching it on?

FYI, harsh is a [strike]troll[/strike], err...dish subscriber who, at every conceivable opportunity, likes to bash anything related to DirecTv.
