What channel is it on? It is listed in their current hotel, In-Room Choice package posted on their website, but I didn't find it when I scrolled through the channel guide, and all I found by Googling is that DirecTV said they were dropping it last fall.

    1) They should update their Hotel channel availablity listings, and,

    2) How in hell did they process a customer programming order last week that explicitly dedicated a receiver to that channel? I know that in a headend, every receiver authorized for a channel in a package can be retuned to any other channel, but remember a few years ago, when the D10 receivers were susceptible to the dreaded "Blue bouncing logo" syndrome, their records used to denote exactly which receiver withing a package was assigned to which channel.

Does the fact that the UFC is seriously looking at buying G4 make any difference?

To me it does for the following reasons:
    1. Any content currently on the channel will be gone. I don't see any of it staying.

    2. If the UFC does buy it, I'd think that would start new negotiations on carriage. Maybe they will want less money and DirecTV will decide it's worth it. I don't know, but probably a better chance of at least them talking.

But, the big thing would be that the channel wouldn't be anything like it is now.

NBC/Comast is thinking about selling it. Link.

Twit Tv needs its own channel.

I found it! G4 is on Dish, Charter, U-verse, FIOS, Time Warner, Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, etc. Everywhere except DirecTV.

The question is, for how long? If DirecTV didn't see value in what Comcast wanted to get for it, they certainly wouldn't bother talking to them now. They'd start discussions with the UFC if the deal is signed.

I had found G4 to be very very focus on one item. When it was TechTV it was well rounded tech/games channel.

So, if G4 is important to you.... you have choices. Isn't this "free country" stuff wonderful? ;)

As far as it coming back.... it may happen, it may not. I see it happening one day, DirecTV is a 20 million subscriber company, and G4 was in the "Choice" package, so pretty much available to all of those 20 million. That is a HUGE advertising market. It is much more important to G4 to be on DirecTV, then it is for DirecTV to have G4. People aren't leaving DirecTV in droves because of this one channel, so it is hurting G4 a lot more then it is DirecTV. DirecTV is just patiently waiting till G4 comes close to their terms, which in the end means our wallets.

I 2nd the twit channel idea

2 problems I can see is - it goes against Leo's ideas (Internet only) and DirecTV wouldn't cater to us niche market folks.

Would be cool for the new studio, but I wouldn't want the advertising model to change. But, we probably should get back to topic. Seems any thread about G4, Leo is brought up :)
