That second game meant nothing in terms of the season, but I was so upset when Elsbury hit that HR in the 14th, I couldn't sleep. :nono2:

Ideally, I would love to see the Yanks take 2-3 from the Jays and the O's sweep Boston, setting up a play-off.

    That would be interesting...

And I'm sorry that my team gave you a sleepless night, but all I can say is join the club. They've been giving me sleepless nights for about 3 weeks

A playoff would be good baseball, but all things considered, I'd like it better if Boston won cleanly. All things considered I can't risk the results of a playoff.

The sad thing is it's possible the Sox can lose the next three games and still get in, because the Yankees won't roll over for the Rays. It's just not in their DNA, even though it might mean screwing the Sox.

They even let Boston decide what to do about Friday night's rain-out. Cashman told them that since the game was more important to them than the Yankees, they could make the call whether or not to start it late Friday night or play two on Sunday. I couldn't believe that, when I heard about it.

Best they can hope for is a playoff, right? Looks like they have to sweep and Boston has to lose all three.

Wait, if the Angels sweep, Boston loses all three and Rays win 1 out of three, they'd all finish 89-73! :eek2:

I hated that whole season, I wanted the Pats to lose at least one because I just knew they'd blow it in the end. The Giants did to them what they did to the Rams in '01 SB. I embarrassed enough I refused to wear my Pats gear for most of the season!

I do hope they can pull this out and limp in but have great doubt they can do much without the starting pitching and Youk out.

OW! Stab with a twist - thank you :eek2:

I've never felt sorrier for a ballplayer than I did that day. Still do. Bill Buckner.
Poor guy. Far too good a player to be vilified for that one play. Don't remember who the manager of the Sox was that day, but he really should have pulled Buckner for a defensive replacement. Buckner was hurt and was just in the game for his bat.

It was more than hat catch. The Giants D was smashing Brady & switched up all their communication so Bill BelliCHEAT couldn't steal signs like they did all year. Notice the o-line always picked up blitzes all year until that game? I wonder why?????

Rays made up 9.5 games in 24 days. Pretty amazing. Sox brought the tying run at the plate in both the 8th and 9th innings, so thy had a shot.

They're trading Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins? :scratchin

EDIT: Just heard an explanation that makes sense. Chicago wanted to let him go anyway, but by "trading" him, they're not stuck with his salary next year.
