LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

When she first became a big star for some reason I would always call her Sydney Whitney. I was talking care of my niece at the time and to this day we still call her that. Rest in peace.

Some are just doomed. They just can't get a handle on their life.

Maybe you'll get the room she died in. Somebody will (although next weekend the room may still be sealed for the investigation).

Hopefully no drugs were involved in her death. It would be nice to know that she had beaten the monster.

Sad. The problem is drugs may not have been involved, but drugs still may have caused her relatively young death. Just sad.

She has a movie in post-production, Sparkle. From the LA Times:

Ms. Houston was Mrs. Fluffybear's favorite 'American' singer while growing up sadly though Mrs. Fluffybear said she won't remember her that way. Mrs. Fluffybear went on to elaborate that she had the displeasure of having to deal with Ms. Houston on several occasions. Sadly, Ms. Houston was always severely intoxicated at during their meetings and making a large scene about how she should be given preferential treatment because of her fame.

Mrs. Fluffybear mentioned that she would not be surprised to find alcohol played some kind of part in this tragedy (mixing of pills & booze, etc.).

A friend of mine tried crack when it became easy to get around here. We had a long conversation about it. He swore he'd never use it again, but could see how easily you could get hooked on it. Dangerous drug.

Your point is well taken here.

Read your post and Mike Tyson immediately came to mind. All that money and you know he'd rather be hanging out on a corner in the 'hood. Some folks just can't deal with that kind of fame and fortune (not to mention Mr. Brown).

From what I heard on the news, I think the investigation started with whether or not a monster had beaten her. Bobby ain't out of this yet.
