We haven't had the pic go out for more than about 10 minutes at any given time due to rain fade over the last couple of weeks but it seems to go out more frequently than it did with DTV. It's really nothing more than a small annoyance in the grand scheme of things. The PQ is ok also. It may not be as great as DTV but after a couple of weeks it appears we are now used to it.

We are happy that we decided to make the change. So far no recording problems and don't expect any. No freezing with the hoppers like we had with the genie. The hopper reboots lightening quick compared to any of the DTV DVR's! Much better SD quality. Changes channels much quicker. On top of that with the OTA dongle we picked up another tuner.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'm going to make the switch to Dish. From what I read on previous posts reception problems are more prevalent with the 129 satellite which is in the western arc. I'm in Richmond, VA so I'm in the Eastern arc. Also, my friend has Dish and he says the reception is about the same as DTV.

Dish told me when I signed up that since I was a Senior Citizen that my rate

"after all the sign up discounts are gone" will never change -- I will call Dish today to verify this

That's why I questioned him on it, I think someone either misunderstood or was told a line of BS.

I just finished talking to dish and the agent assured me that when I signed up there was the Senior promotion the there will not be a rate change ever for me except if I add some service. What more can I say I hope they were correct.

My two cents - get them to put it in writing. I have had agents on the phone tell me many things over the years (both Dish and Directv, also Time Warner and Comcast - hey, we move a lot!) that, when I later brought up to some other person for the company, they denied it or told me I must have misunderstood or there was some "fine print" etc. So I would suggest calling and asking them to send that to you in writing.

BTW - what is the age limit for Senior?

Hi, I was forwarded a link to this thread by a DISH customer. I am unsure who it was that georgewells spoke with but to the best of my knowledge DISH does NOT offer a program like this for Senior Citizen or anyone else. It is stated in our contracts that DISH reserves the right to change programming and pricing at anytime. The only exception to this rule is during the first 12 months were it states on our website "Get this package for this price for 12 months". If georgewells would like to PM with the information of who it was that he spoke with, I would be happy to look into this further. Thank you!

MaryB, I sure hope you guys can track down who in Dish made this promise on the phone to them, because if they did do it to fool them into signing up someone should be fired.

Mary --- I don't know how to send a PM - Also if I was scammed I would like the public to know ! so here is my story !!
I was signed up on 6/14/2014 by Sales Rep Morgan Allen - Ph XXX-XXX-XXXX His boss is Mike ? at Ph XXX-XXX-XXXX -- Mikes ? boss is Charles ? at XXX-XXX-XXXX This should give you something to go on !! During the sign up the Rep Morgan Allen called, who he presented as a Disk Person, and this person also said "yes, The rate is good forever" Based on the Senior Citizen promo. This was probably also part of the scam!! -- I sent a E-Mail to Disk yesterday asking to clarify my 2 recent phone conversations on 9/15 & 9/16 with dish saying that this was true and send me something in writing confirming this but I have not yet received a reply. --- Let me know Mary if you find out anything about this ! -- Thanks George Wells

George, the easy way to send her a PM is to go back up to her response, click on her user name and then use the send me a message button to send her a PM.

I'd bet if you PM'ed Mary your Dish account number she would be able to double check your account and let you know exactly what you were sold.

I think it might be helpful to hear what came of this, in case others are offered a "Seniors Lifetime Price Lock" guarantee?

A person does not need to be a scam artist to not want their personal contact information published to the Internet.

I think you absolutely should find an email address for someone in Dish who is in a high enough position to care and give them the details. This borders on, probably crosses the line, of fraud in the criminal sense.
