My setup is pretty simple; hr20-700, hr21-100, and hr22-100. I already had a run of coaxial to my computer room from an earlier cable internet installation. I had a stand alone coaxial line available for a power inserter where an older multiswitch had received power. The installer swapped out the 5 lnb unit on the dish with the 3 LNB swm unit and used one of the four lines running down to connect to a 8 way splitter (left the no longer used 3 lines where they were running down the side of the house). So with an 8 way splitter and only 3 receivers, a power inserter and a broadband deca, why did he add in a 2 way splitter to connect one of the receivers and the broadband deca?. I asked him why and his answer was that the proper way to install the broadband deca was to chain it with a receiver. Any reason why I shouldn't just remove the 2 way splitter and connect that receiver and the broadband deca directly into the 8 way splitter?
