The Beta version of Windows 7 SP1 is available on Technet. Anyone here going to try it?
I will have one machine running it, but Windows 7 SP1 has NO new features and is basically a roll-up and some under the hood tweaking. There is really no reason to jump the gun on this one.
Thanks. I was hoping that they would change that awful network icon & make it animated ;-).
A friend of mine has had SP1 for months, and has given it the thumbs-up. If you have the time to apply the service pack as a beta, then you should do so.
Installed it on one work machine; seems fine. As Larry stated, no new functionality.
I think I am going to wait for the "public" release on this. Doesn't seem to have any "WOW I gotta have that" features....
I'll wait for the public release also. Now, if there were a new network icon ...
MS website FAQ indicated that to install the sp1 release required a clean install of Win7
You may have misread the FAQ. A clean install is only needed to go from the Beta of SP1 to the final build of SP1.
