Windows XP SP1 update flaw affects memory-allocating programs

    I believe this answers my XP taking a lot longer to boot problem that I've been trying to solve for a couple of months. There are some links in the slashdot comments to people that have the patch for you to download. Microsoft is making you call support services to determine if you need the fix or not, and they may or may not charge you for the call.

    Saw that posted over on the Nvidia usenet newsgroup the other day when the new drivers were released. Not sure I'm going to mess with it for now.

    I wonder if this is what is causing a background process of MS Money 2003 to eat huge chunks of memory after a while if left running.

    I've noticed that my machine is booting quicker again and as strange as it seems when I check a hotmail account with outlook express it seems much faster now! Photoshop opens faster too and I haven't really tried much else except Opera and Eudora.
