Yes, but I only have the one DVR.

Oh my... 19TB... I thought my Windows Media Center was large at 8TB. I can see how the UPL would have issues with 19TB and hundreds of titles -- indexing, sorting, etc... Wow. What a setup you must have. I'm not surprised DirecTV wouldn't want to support a setup like that as it's probably outside the norm? Would be amazing if they could use your system for benchmark testing -- if it works for you, it will probably work for everyone else. :)

If I were Rich I would reduce the number of DVRs in the UPL to 6 or 7 as I do and then it is manageable.

I have asked for a Selectable (by DVR) UPL and even explained it the the Senior Manager to DVR Development at last year's CES and he said he would look into it but never did.

I will ask them again this year at 2011 CES and see what he says if he is there or ask whomever is there what they think.

We're still waiting for our "modern" GUI to be upgraded to HD from SD. :)

    Happy camping.

They do support it. They just don't understand how it works. It certainly doesn't work well with the Unified Playlist (UPL), but work it does.

I've pretty much given up on the UPL as it is in it's present state. I have most of my HRs set to Local Playlist. I can wait for them to fix it so it's usable.

I would like to add a new option to the mix:

    SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245
It is an advanced format drive, so I was a little skeptical it would work given the problems others have had with other advanced format drives like the WD EARS series. I am happy to report that it works fine and is pretty quiet. I don't know how the sound level compares to the WD EVDS series, but I am guessing it is louder based on the comments of others hardly being able to hear the drives. I can still hear the near constant rumbling (no loud seeking sounds) several feet from the DVR in a quiet bedroom. The Samsung is, however, quieter than the drive it replaced:

    HITACHI Deskstar 7K2000 HDS722020ALA330 (0F10311) 2TB 7200

The Hitachi drive worked fine too for several months before I swapped it, but it was a little noisy for my taste and acoustic management is disabled in the latest firmware.

The Samsung has been working fine for me for several weeks, and it is considerably cheaper than the WD drive, so I think it is a worthwhile option to consider for those looking for a 2TB drive.

Be interesting to see how the Sammy functions after a few months and/or several NRs. I hate to admit it, but my EVDS drives have started that "rumbling" noise and I'm very disappointed. Doesn't bother me when watching TV, but in a quiet room it's annoying. Meanwhile, my EADS drives are only slightly chattering, have to put my ear on the HRs to hear it.

The EADS drives that I have internally in my 20-700s also drop the internal temps down to about 118 degrees and my EVDS drives don't. I'm gonna go back to recommending the EADS drives over the EVDS drives.

If you hear that "rumbling" in the Sammy already, it's probably gonna get worse. But please let us know how you make out with it.

Why don't you just Select your 4 Most Favorite DVRs that have the Recordings you care most about watching and the Hell with the rest of the DVRs, just do them manually.

I try to spread out my viewing so that all the HRs get used. I don't want to hurt their feelings.

But to be serious, all of a sudden, the MRV seems to be working much better. I have no dropouts and I've learned how to cope with the UPL. VOS showed me some things and they seem to have worked. As usual.

Great to hear they are working better. Do you think it is due to the latest NR Releases or what?

Yes, VOS know his Stuff!!! He is an Expert in that Area of Expertise!!!

I didn't see anything in the NRs that made me think something had changed. Perhaps the changes we made just took longer to come to fruition than we thought. That was the only logical reason we could come up with. I have a rather strange system, eleven HRs and two DECA clouds. It just seemed as if, all of a sudden, it decided to start working correctly. Still have all the same problems everyone else has with the UPL, that won't go away until they do something radically different. But, on the whole, my system is much more stable than it was.

Agree with your statement about VOS, I do!!! :)

Probably a no-brainer at this point in the game, but I got a Fantom G-Force Megadisk 2TB (GF2000EU) for Christmas and it works like a champ connected to my HR23-700. Doesnt come with the eSATA cable (only comes with USB), but I ordered one and so far so good!

I've been using the Thermaltake BlacX eSATA USB Docking Station with the WD20EVDS. Tonight I try to bring up my playlist and discover it's running on the internal drive. I see that the thermaltake is powered off. I push the power button and it lights up, but when I release the power button, the power goes off. Rinse and repeat, same results.

This is the 2nd unit of the thermaltake that has done this exact thing. I'm done with this product. I've ordered the Antec MX-1.
