The question is simple, if technology permitted would you want an accurate digital backup of every conversation, note, sight,... able to be recalled thanks to technology - or to remember things on your own, seasoned by time?

While I might like the ability to have total recall, the absolute certainty in my mind that there would be people who would find ways to steal, manipulate, and abuse the technology makes me say "no way".

Personally I think its only a matter of time till we start augmenting our own brains with computer processing and memory, allowing us to eventually simply "detach" from our physical bodies and have a continued existence long after we are dead.

That wheels been invented already. The human brain already does that. Now we just need to be able access it. "Total Recall"

But of course if you spend a lot of time here, your brain will atrophy and it won't make any difference.

I'm still trying to get the "edit/delete" feature of my brain working satisfactorily.

I just had a troublesome thought - what if Microsoft writes the software for this brain backup? I don't think my head could stand the hourly security updates from Seatle.

Not only that, but you would be seeing blue all the time.
