just seen Directv is carrying WWE next event for $54.95, are they nuts you get 5 months worth of the WWE Network for that price

It's not DirecTV's doing, all PPV providers have to use that $50-60 pricing set by WWE for PPVs, even though they price the network at $9.99. It's why for a while after the network launched DirecTV refused to carry WWE PPVs at all for residential subscribers and only had them available to commercial subscribers for blast areas.

It was the same thing with the ROH/NJPW MSG show WrestleMania weekend, on PPV it was around $40, but with NJPW World you could get it for 999 yen which is about $9.

Yea I was wondering that cause I remember the WWE D* dispute

So that dispute is over now?

And your right the smart customers would just get WWE network but there are a % of rual customers who don't have good broadband so ordering ppv via TV provider is there only option

Don't know yet, iNDemand only added it to their schedule yesterday, I'm not sure about Vubiquity/EventTV who U-Verse and some other cable providers use.

Also, word is they plan to announce their TV deal with TNT at the WarnerMedia Upfront on Wednesday, which hopefully means they have a deal with DirecTV for PPVs.

EDIT: Double or Nothing is now on the PPV schedule for DirecTV

They made the AEW/WarnerMedia deal official yesterday, weekly show on TNT, with Bleacher Report Live having the OTT streaming rights to their PPVs and tv show.
WarnerMedia Partners with All Elite Wrestling for Multi-Platform Launch of Groundbreaking New Wrestling League

They didn't name it or announce the day yet, but for a while now AEW had "Tuesday Night Dynamite" trademarked, which makes sense, have a wrestling show on Tuesday nights to take advantage of SmackDown moving to Fridays this fall.

I can't see their first PPV doing all that well in buy rates due to no real build up to the show in regards to having an weekly TV show or anything. And $50-60 to order this without any idea if the show will be worth paying that kind of money... I can see many people taking an hard pass at this.

The first big PPV The Elite put on was All In and it was trending #1 worldwide that night. They hinted at Double or Nothing after the show, with the announcement of it and AEW in January after Kenny's New Japan and Cody and the Young Buck's ROH contracts ended. When tickets went on sale for Double or Nothing they sold out in 30 minutes. They've been building it up since then with their weekly Being the Elite YouTube show, live streams of signing announcements and videos of indy appearances to continue the on going feuds (i.e. Jericho/Kenny). They even got a plug during DX's WWE Hall of Fame acceptance speech this year since Billy Gunn is one of their trainers.

To be fair many things trend worldwide on Twitter these days so using this as a metric for success isn't such a big deal any more. And yes die hard wrestling marks might pony up $50-60 for this but... casual fans who really only watch the WWE won't pony that kind of money up. Now drop the PPV price down to say $25-30 and that might at least help the buyrate out a bit and get more eye balls who will find that price more reasonable to check it out.

I think it will have a decent buy rate . Also if u listen to "busted open" on XM they have a good amount of fans already .

For selling out in Chicago and the other wrestling joint promo selling MSG shows there's a huge desire for more wrestling outside of WWE .

also, DirecTV will be carrying "The Roast of Ric Flair: Live & Uncensored" on PPV too on May 24, but this may end up getting canceled if Ric Flair's heath take a turn for the worst as he was hospitalized today in Atlanta.

For AEW does anyone k know why it says 1 day rental? There is a chance I can't watch that night or watch all of it. Was going to DVR and watch when I can.

Same here. I hadn't ordered one since the Network started and was surprised to see that.
