Xbox has been viewed as more than a games console for quite some time. Microsoft is looking to conquer the living room, and they believe the Xbox now stands as a home entertainment brand. Xbox Live already offers Zune video, music, Netflix, Hulu and more, and now it may finally add the long-rumored IPTV service, according to WinRumors.

Microsoft's subscription TV service is expected to be unveiled on Monday during its E3 press conference. The name floating around for the service is currently "Diamond," although the code name for the TV service had been "Orapa."

Microsoft, according to WinRumors' source, is currently in the midst of some last-minute negotiations so that they can unveil the Diamond demo during the press conference. "Microsoft is currently in last minute negotiations to secure the necessary agreements in time," said the anonymous source. Word is that Apple is also in a similar situation with its soon-to-be-revealed iCloud, and this could be a way for Microsoft to counter Apple.

It's also worth noting that Reuters had already mentioned as much as six months earlier that Microsoft's been looking to become a "virtual cable operator" with its Xbox 360. This would come with an additional monthly fee on top of the $59.99 annual for Xbox Live gold.

Given how popular Netflix and other services already are on Xbox Live, this really seems like a no brainer to us. Xbox is taking one more step towards controlling the living room, indeed.
