    Somewhere...
I was made aware of this launch this morning by someone else, which got me to looking for any news I could find on it. The station that broke the story on it does have an article on their website about it. Just a side note. The other company mentioned in the article is a local retailer that sells Directv.

That will take Washington St. to around 95% of it's 'land area' to DirecTV-HD, only the very small Lewiston, ID/Clarkston, WA DMA not being covered.

Now if they could just get the Eugene, OR, DMA going and that would take a goodly chunk of Oregon (only Portland DMA at present) out of the 'not served' equation in the Pacific NW, leaving only the Grants Pass/Medford DMA left.

Lots of satellite capacity left, both on spots and national.

Still no HD locals in the Lansing, MI market, which I believe is the biggest DMA without them on Directv.

Lewiston gets Spokane plus their one station is already on Directv. the only difference is they get kcdt instead of kuid on Directv, but they are one and the same with each other anyway.

Dying for HD LIL here in Eugene. Second largest DMA in the country without HD LIL (Lansing, MI is the largest I believe). OTA is a PITA due to the transmitters not all being in one spot. You get your antenna dialed in for ABC & CBS and you lose NBC and Fox. I don't understand why they don't all put their transmitters in the same place. I have to record the SD LIL feed of the few shows I watch from the big 4 as well as the HD OTA version, just so I ensure I get the show. Antenna won't move and all of a sudden, the channels are all pixelated and recordings fail. I wish we would qualify for HD DNS if we dont get our locals in HD.

I see we are scheduled to get the HD GUI on the 20th; maybe they are going to wait and do it at the same time.

Sure would be nice if some of the people on here who know what is going on would chime in and let the rest of us know.

The Yakima/ Tri-City locals came up this morning. Everything but cw (which has no hd in these markets) and KIMA (CBS in Yakima) are available in HD on Directv.

Not sure why it wasn't included. I know that last thing we were shown showed it was still in testing.

There are markets where if two affiliates of the same network are carried, only one is in HD. Maybe it's a bandwith issue?
